We woke up to clouds and rain. Enjoyed a nice breakfast on the patio. Despite the cloudy skies, we ventured out for a short walk around the neighborhood. There’s a lot of work being done on the newly constructed condos near Beachside Villas and El Zafiro. Back at the villa, Bob delivered two nice beach chairs and an umbrella.

We drove to Orient Beach, via the causeway and through Marigot. I think Super U in Marigot is open, but there’s a lot of construction going on in that area. Traffic was not heavy, but we were behind a few “Sunday drivers”. The road through Grand Case is under construction. The road to Club Orient wasn’t too bad until the very end, where we encountered large puddles of water. It must’ve rained a bit in the recent past, as the island hills are nice and green.

The chain/gate to Perch Lite wasn’t open. It wasn’t a perfect beach day, but we were the only two people sitting on the beach. We have NEVER seen this in all our years visiting. It was a bit windy, but we didn’t get sandblasted as the beach sand was wet from prior rain squalls. We stayed for a couple of hours, got rained on a little and dipped our toes in the choppy waters of Orient Bay. There were several people walking on the beach, but they didn’t stay long. Overall, it was a great morning!

Time for lunch and the unanimous choice was Yvette’s, one of our longtime favorite dining spots. We arrived just before noon and were warmly greeted by Felix. Everyone was wearing masks and there's a hand sanitizer at the entrance to the dining room. Marc ordered St. Martin Chicken and I had Stew Conch. Both meals were absolutely delicious, as always. The restaurant was getting quite a few take-out orders, but we were the only two people in the restaurant. Felix pulled up a chair to our table and chatted with us a bit. Service and hospitality were spot on.

On the drive home we stopped to shop at the Super U in Hope Estates. We purchased a few bottles of reasonably priced Rose Wine, cheese, meat and vegetables. I was a happy camper, for sure! The exchange rate was 1.15.

We headed back to the villa, soaked in the pool and took a nap on the loungers. At 6:30, we ventured out for dinner. We visited several places, but they were all closed on Monday. Fat Tony’s bar was open, but they weren’t serving food. Lal’s Curry in a Hurry is closed on Monday. The rib place just past Topper’s was closed on Monday. We headed back and stopped at White Swan for Chinese take-out. Both of our meals were tasty and hit the spot.
The Patriots played the Kansas City Chiefs. We have a good array of channels in the villa. Marc is happy with that, but was not happy when the Patriots lost.

That’s all for now. This morning’s weather is a lot better than yesterday and we might head into town or go to the beach. Decisions, decisions!

Oh, and our body temperatures are lower than yesterday. TMI…
