Interesting comment from GaKaye I always wondered why the liability charges were different co to co on the island, wondered if it was the deductible or? However from a friend found out in Europe - EU - third party liability is madatory for the car owner, whether it's for personal use or rental. So assuming St Martin and St Maarten are part of France and The Netherlands, then the liability insurance is already included in your rental cost. The exception is the liability does not cover yourself or passengers in the car. So for me next time, the question re liability is to find out what it covers. Plus for personal or passenger liability that could already be covered by your personal travel ins policy Also means for islands not part of the EU, the above would not necessarily be true.
