That has been reported a couple of times here before. They were working on it when we were on island at the beginning of June. Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. Simpson Bay needs parking. Much better than building another restaurant or store..

nor do I. If done properly. what I had noticed was the freshly poured cement and the Project Information posting.
for my money it should be doubled in size. it would be safer for motorists and people frequenting the nearby restaurants etc.
what I will not miss from my Atrium balcony is the loud thunderous music (noise)blasting from that area into the wee hours from the previous occupant.

As far as the size, I assume, without knowing, that the property next to it was not owned by government, so they couldn't make it bigger.

Change is scary.

Remember all of the angst concerning the new causeway. I love it.

Then again all the people upset at the replacement of th buildings on Orient Beach. I think they look nice.

Not all progress is bad.

So very true, Paul. In that area in particular I'd far rather see a much needed parking lot as opposed to another high rise development.

And I remember how negative I was towards the idea of the Boardwalk when its construction was first proposed, and yet today, I think it's a wonderful addition to downtown Philipsberg. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Amen to the noise abatement. We are in Simpson Bay Villas and it has been horrible the last few years. Happy to have a parking lot instead.

I do wonder if this will have any affect on the Heineken Regatta parties on Kim Sha Beach.

Based on where that parking lot is, I don't really think it will affect Heineken.
