NEWFOUNDLAND BOILED DINNER

3 lbs Corn Beef Brisket

2 Turnip (Peeled and chopped in big chunks)
1 Cabbage (chopped in quarters but leave the core, you can remove when you serve)
12 Potatoes (peeled and chopped in quarters)
12 Carrots (peeled and chopped in three or half)

Boil Brisket for 5 hours.

Add Turnip and Carrots
Add Cabbage
Add Potatoes.
Once all vegetables are cooked. Use a straining spoon and place on a platter. Place in the middle of the table and let guests help themselves.

This makes a lot of food. You will definitely have left overs. Ask you guests to bring Tupperware.

Served with mustard pickles and pan rolls.
Salt and Pepper to taste

NEWFOUNDLAND BOILED DINNER THE MORNING AFTER.

Chop Turnip, Potatoes, carrots and cabbage and beef,

Fry in butter until bottom has a brown crust, flip and repeat

Chicken Cordon Bleu & Home made hash on the side for dinner tonight!
(Hash will mostly be the veggies, as we don't have much Corned Beef left... only 3 small slices! just enough to flavor it.) <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

Question: For "turnip," do you use the white turnip or the "Swedish turnip" (rutabaga)?
