We did not plan very long for this trip, Kelly called me one day from work and said she had to take some vacation time or lose it. So what did I do? I booked a get-away-week with Interval and called American for tickets. We flew from Dulles early Friday morning the 4th to San Juan. We arrived about 90 minutes late from San Juan, but Michael and Joe from Unity Rental Car were waiting for us when we arrived.

We spent the first two nights at the Summit Hotel in a standard room, no coffee pot or cooking facilities. But there is the Kissing Fish Grill., great happy hours and wonderful breakfast in the mornings.

We moved to the Pelican on Sunday. Room was nice with full kitchen facilities, but had no view, but who spends time in their room anyway, not us.

We spent most of our time at OB on this trip. We stopped by the Peg Leg Pub and checkout some paperback books to read and Kelly was happy all day with a good book, beach chair and umbrella. Spent one day at Bay Rouge where we met up with Philly and her hubby.

Monday night we met some fellow TTOL’ers at PLP for happy hour and ended up staying for dinner. Thanks Neil.

We ate at:

Kissing Fish Grill (Summit Hotel)--BBQ night. All you can eat. The ribs are yummy and the baked beans were the best we’d had in a long time. Of course, we had breakfast there a couple days also. Omelets are great as well as the French toast. Say hi to Terry and Chloe for us if you stop in or stay there.

Peg Leg Pub—best fish and chips on the island.

The Bliss (near Sunset Beach Bar)—had ribs with a pineapple sauce, very good. But the peppers in olive oil for dipping fresh bread was the best. Nice view of the beach and planes landing. They have a small pool by the outside bar.

Paradise View—Claudette is now open for dinner. We had the ribs and chicken, they were very good. The sauce was outstanding. Had crepes with vanilla ice cream, grand marnier, and ponch kuba for desert, we were in heaven. Of course, don’t forget to try her famous guava coladas. Best on the island.

Turtle Pier—In for the fix of lobster and steak. Another satisfying meal.

Bananas—our first time. Talk about a cheeseburger in paradise. To die for. Thanks Dale.

The best part of the trip came on Thursday. We took the Tiko Tiko—we had a blast on this cruise. We went with some of the TTOL people that we had met earlier in the week. The food and drinks were outstanding. Of course the mud bath topped the whole day. If you have not been on this trip, treat yourself and do it

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dave and Regina for setting up the TTOL party at Peg Leg Pub.

We also met some other very nice people from the TTOL board and enjoyed the trip on Tiko Tiko with them.

Butch and Kelly

Happiness Is No Tan Lines[Linked Image][Linked Image]

Edited by Administrator on 1/22/02 03:55 PM.
