This should possibly be in "General Carribbean", but this forum gets the most responses. We have a 6 and 4 year old. Can anyone recommend the best kid friendly resort/vacation experience they've been on? Disclaimer: We are waiting until they are 8 and 9 to take them sailing, so that is out for a few more years.

Many Thanks!!

I don't see any reason to wait - we've been 3 times now with our 18 month old.. first trip was at 6 months..

Our favorite stop with him in the BVI was Scrub Island, but I don't think I'd call that a kid friendly resort.. it certainly had some kid friendly stuff but I think kids would tend to get bored.

What's your definition of "best"?

What type of budget do you have?

For starters look at the following (in no particular order):
Atlantis, Nassau
Beaches, Turks & Caicos
Beaches, Negril
Beaches, Ocho Ríos
Four Seasons, Nevis
Westin, St. John
St. James Club, Antigua

Somewhere out there
Having dragged our daughter now 11 all over the planet with about 2 years of sea time on yachts. Her favorite is the Cancun area. Most of the resorts have great kids clubs where the kids can hang out for the day and parents can enjoy the club. Having been to about 6 resorts there, we just now shop by price as the customer service is always good.

Another plus of Cancun area is quick and easy to get to compared to the Eastern Caribbean.

Another vote for a cruise - Disney is the top choice if you can afford it, but if not, Royal Caribbean, Norweigian, and Carnival are also good picks.

We pick itinerary first, then boat (look for features you want and also age) and then cruiseline. We've probably been on 8 cruises now. Let me know if you have questions. I've been really impressed by how far they've come in 10 years with things like water slides, fun dining options, and interesting itineraries. Our favorite is Western Caribbean - Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Roatan, and Belize - but we've also done Eastern and Southern.

Beaches, Turks and Caicos <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> is the best resort for kids. Adults happen to like it too!

Te Verandah Hotel in Antigua is very popular with families, a sister hotel of St. James Antigua.

Best would be:

Child centered activities--preferably through some sort of kids camp
All inclusive--would rather just go for ease, than having to figure all that out

Other than that, we are wide open.

We have a 10yo. We have taken him on Caribbean trips since he was 3.5 months old.

We love Caneel Bay on St John. The ladies in the kids club are wonderful and the main beach is full of other families. There is snorkeling off the beach and lots of beach toys. Meal plans (food only) are available if you wish. Quick taxi ride into town for other dining options.

We have a 10 yr old and have brought him over the past years to many Caribbean destinations including Grand Cayman; St.John (Caneel Bay); St. Thomas; the BVI (Tortola, Virgin Gorda, and Jost); Beaches Turks & Caicos; as well as three Disney Cruises. Hands down, he has enjoyed the Disney Cruises the most with Beaches T&C a close second. They have all had their pros and cons. We have yet to bring him along on a bareboat charter but plan on doing that soon. We also will begrudgingly be going to Atlantis this summer.. something we have avoided for awhile. Feel free to PM me on any specific questions on any of these places because I feel like we have been to our fair share of kid friendly resorts in the Caribbean.

He also really loved Caneel Bay in a different way.. Snorkeling off beach and all the wildlife on the grounds. Agree with "Cleobeach" on the kids club ladies...they were wonderful!
