A good variety of reasonably priced and well prepared food. Lots of local business and a brisk carry-out business most of the time also.

Possibly a low season thing to be closed on Sunday?

They provide good food, and usually a lot of it, at a very reasonable price. I usually end up with their chicken alfredo, which they call 'garlic chicken' or something like that, and always have enough left over for at least one meal, sometimes more!

When I read about them being closed on Sundays I was surprised, too. I know we've eaten there on numerous Sundays but not sure if they were in December or April. We love to go there for lunch on Sundays and see all the island families coming in after church all dressed up and looking great as we sit there in our more casual attire.

I'm not a fan of them myself, but many people have said the mussels are very good. Otherwise, it's burgers, as I said, alfredo chicken, sandwiches, comfort food. Great garlic bread too..

SandS said: Still haven't gotten there after 16 trips. What is good besides ribs? This will be the year. We will have four weeks to get there. EVERYTHING that they put out is delicious. I have had some of the Italian food there...lasagna, veal parm, etc...and it is BETTER than most of the fancy Italian restaurants mentioned here often....but priced under 15 bucks...and twice the size portions!!!!! Mark's Place, hands down, is probably one of the island's best kept secrets. Very casual.....inexpensive.....and GREAT service go a long way!!!!! They do a tremendous take out business also with the locals. A true hidden gem.

I have had some of the Italian food there...lasagna, veal parm, etc...and it is BETTER than most of the fancy Italian restaurants mentioned here often You mentioned this about two years ago here on TTOL and I took your suggestion and ordered the Veal Parm. BIG MISTAKE as it was awful. Worst meal of the trip. Everyone's tastes are different and I respect that but to say that Mark's is better than most of the Italian Restaurants on the island is incredulous . Now I like Mark's Place for most of their menu items and will dine there again in a couple of weeks but NOT the Veal Parm.

only been to sxm about 5 times, have never seen Marks place,,,we are staying at Royal Palm,,,do I head towards Phillipsburg and possibly see it before going up the hill? Sorry I am not sure what people mean when they say the Cul-de-sac? Still getting to know the streets, etc. but sounds like a place I would like to try. No, if you're going toward P'burg, you go UP the hill and DOWN the hill, going sort of straight through the roundabout at the top of the hill (as opposed to turning right to go down into P'burg proper) and Mark's is at the roundabout at the bottom of the hill, right there by the Grand Marche.

Thanx, Naked. I know exactly where it is but I couldn't recall if it was a seperate building or a part of the same one. O goodness - I sure do remember the original Marks Place but my question is: how did we ever find it in the first place? The roads and the signage were all so very bad.......and I remember making a reservation that first time - by getting out of the car and writing our names and preferred time and date in their reservation pad......those really were the days, my friends!
