You can't fault them when there's a party, but there definitely are some times when there's loud music on for no reason. On my last trip while we were in Great Harbor on Jost, that little snack place on the west side by the ferry had giant speakers out side blasting music all day long across the harbor. There wasn't anybody outside that we could see...

They have played the music loud for years as a Siren to sailors. Often our guests would be lured in after dinner for the music, some nights no one there, other nights a crowd. We anchor by Neptune's so the music is a non issue.

Mandknky said: We experienced the same loud music when we were there in February, and it went on quite late into the night. It was made worse because it was coming from two different sources. Nevertheless we enjoyed anagada overall, cow wreck, loblolly, etc and dinner at the wonky dog was fantastic. I kind of like sitting on a boat listening to music wafting from a beach bar...as long as it's just ONE beach bar...and preferably live music...not that I'm...uh...picky...

So I'm a curmudgeonly old woman. The beauty, peace and goodwill of Anegada was a gift of untold value when I received it. 30 or more nights in my life at the Setting Point anchorage. Some nights were quiet. Some had loud music. I don't own the place and I respect the folks that live there trying to make a living. If the music brings in a group that spends $250 it can change a bad night into a good one. You should get over yourself.

Perhaps you might read this thread from the very beginning and understand that others have concerns, as well. Please don't worry, I won't be any bother to you or anyone else at Setting Point.

We were in the mooring field on Tuesday (12/6) straight out from Wonky Dog and could hear the blaring music. It was 70's to 80's music. We ate dinner at Wonky Dog and came back to the boat to lay on the nets and look at the stars. The music became old quick. Off to bed we went. Thank goodness the ac drown out the noise.
Love sailing the BVI's with friends.

Riverfrontbrewer said: You can always find a quiet spot on Anegada! Of course. But the question is, can you find a quiet spot to anchor for the night? Some people don't care to be kept awake until 11pm.

Some people don't care to be kept awake until 11pm. Sure, don't people anchor in the Pomato point area? That would be away from any noise in the main anchorage.

My understanding is that it is only viable under a narrow range of weather conditions. That the more usual anchorage, in front of the Reef Hotel, is best for a much wider range of conditions.
