We were at Mario's immediately after they reopened at the Porto Cupecoy location and they were NOT accepting credit cards at that time - BUT - I did read, both here and on FB a few weeks after that they were accepting CCs finally, which fell right in line with what they told us, as when we were there they said they hoped to be accepting them soon. Apparently, from the different items I read, the delay in accepting them might have had something to do with the business relocating from French to Dutch sides of the island and the difference in banking laws? Or not.....

I think that possibly MJ and I were there that same night, and yes, they accepted our credit card. More important, it was fantastic! The food and the company was excellent and it was very nice to meet Mario who not only creates great food but it was fun to hear about the places that are his favorites on island. This will become a regular place for us when on island. Cheers!

Todd,
Somewhat surprised you hadn't been there before but glad you and MJ got to experience it. His food has always been yummy but this is such a great location and IMHO, so much nicer than the original spot....... I think we'd go there if it was a hot dog stand just to enjoy the setting.

We make less and less trips to the French side for dinner every year, this year zero. So we are glad he moved over to Porto Cupecoy and we will certainly go back. Cheers, Todd

Much as we enjoyed the food at the old Mario's location, I didn't much care for the general location, and after reading about an incident which occurred there a few years ago, it added to my personal discomfort so we just stopped going. I was thrilled when we saw the sign they were moving to the current spot since I've loved that location ever since LeMoulin Fou Steakhouse was so briefly there and with each of the subsequent restaurants that have opened in that spot we would go even if we didn't particularly love the places. We sure do love the location......and on a night with a full moon it's among the best on the island IMHO.

Two of his three were White Swan and Lal's. I am sure he has other high end places that were not discussed but these are the places he mentioned in conversation.
The love that he showed when talking about cooking or eating good food was really great to witness, felt lucky to have that time with him. Makes me hungry again thinking about it.
Cheers,

I wish I could help but I honestly don't know. We were there in December and again in April, not the busiest times of the year, but in December we booked 2-3 nights ahead for both a specific table and time and in April we stopped the day before and made our reservation, but again, we did this only because we were hoping for a specific table and time.
