We're doing a marinated top round on the grill, along with corn on the cob, salad and garlic bread. What's everyone else eating tonight?? (..or maybe already eaten?? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Smile.gif" alt="" />)

Olive Bruschetta on baguette (with cream cheese)... for apps.. Burgers... from local (real) butcher... half sirloin/half chuck... ground and mixed when you order it... about 1 hour before they hit the grill... burgers packed very losely (1/3 to 1/2 pound each)! served on fresh baked Onion Rolls...
Done on a HOT (about 550F) grill... about 3 mins a side... Done RARE! Various cheeses to choose from (yes... SXM Gouda)... thin sliced sweet (Peruvian) onion... portabella mushrooms... tomato... shreaded lettuce... fresh, homemade, horseradish sauce (clears the sinus', no allergies here!)...
Side of Mac salad with onion/peppers/shreaded carrots/fresh, local, sugar snap peas... Garden Salad... and lots of fresh local yellow squash... with REAL butter, and a dash of fresh nutmeg!
Apple Pie &/or Pistachio Gelato for dessert...
Nothin' Better on a great Memorial Day!

Sounds good!
By the way, we decided this trip to SXM to bring back an extra wheel of gouda for gifts for family/friends/etc. The cheapest price we found was at the Cash n Carry, at about 52 guilders for the 3.5 kilo wheel (I think that is the name?? The place on the road behind the Harley dealership). Grand Marche was 54 guilders..

We also brought back a wheel... but we got ours at GM... I just love it on a burger with onions & mushrooms... We made wedges and used the Foodsaver on them and froze them...

Carol, we only got our foodsaver recently (about 6 mos)... so I figured I'd use it... Gouda wedges have always frozen well for us in the Glad Freezer bags in the past... I always wrapped them in plastic wrap first, then put them in the Ziplocs...

Haven't bothered with plastic wrap, just the ziplock baggies and haven't had any problems yet with freezer burn, although we use them within 3 or 4 months..

Used a food saver for years when I was feeding hordes of boys and bought everything in bulk. Did a great job.
Now, one of the boys has it. let them feed the hordes!

We've never had hordes either, just I always buy whatever is on sale and keep it in the freezer..

Unfortunately, I don't have a freezer big enough to store bulk anymore.
But I did pick up the new little food saver mini pump. Going to give that a try.

I shop several times a week due to availability. You can never get what you need all in the same day! Or in the same store. Things go bad very quickly. All meat/fish goes into the freezer unless it is dinner tonite!
Of course - then GEBE decides to play with the fridge!
