Any ideas? Will be chartering Voyage 480 and sailing around Tortola for a week. My thoughts are anywhere would be spectacular, if she says yes.

My son-in-law proposed to our daughter 2 years ago just down the beach from the Soggy Dollar. We knew it was going to happen on our charter trip, just didn't know when. Before that, we were sitting at Anegada and there was a double rainbow. We all thought he'd pop the question then - ha ha! But he waited till JVD, took her on a walk down the beach and on their way back got down on one knee. :-)
Our advice to him: don't do it over the water!! That rings goes in the water and it's not going to be the moment you though it was.
I think Cow Wreck would be a beautiful place.
If you head inland for dinner, the view from the top of Bananakeet restaurant at sunset would be beautiful.

I was fortunate enough to be proposed to in the BVI's (keep in mind this is a second marriage for both of us with grown children AND grandchildren) and even looking back at it now the where didn't matter just that it did happen THERE! We were actually in the parking lot at Leverick Bay at the time. I'll surely never forget it. The best part was to be able to share it and celebrate with our BVI FAMILY of Friends! And better still getting married in the BVI's was OVER THE TOP of anything I could have imagined would ever happen to me! Best of luck! No matter where, it will be spectacular!

Think about YCCS on VG. Awesome view from the pool area and the staff has always been responsive especially if you give them a heads up on an event. We had 2 of our daughters birthday parties there. It just looks expensive, used to be the cheapest beer in North South (when they opened it was the most expensive beer $17), but I haven't been since they remodeled.

Cooper Island at sunset was pretty amazing for my best friend's proposal. [Linked Image]

I'd suggest their finding a secluded anchorage and propose at sunset with those on board as I assume they'll be sharing the boat with friends.

The Baths at sunset. In the main grotto. Lighting is gorgeous and everyone is gone after 4.

Cow Wreck Beach
Five years ago, I was sitting under our palapa at Hidden Treasure (our home on Anegada) when a fellow that I had met at the Cow Wreck bar walked over and asked me if I had a magnifying glass that he could use.

I told that indeed I did, and I asked him what he needed it for.

He said that he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, and wanted to burn the proposal into a piece of wood.

We made a plan.

He burned his proposal into a piece of driftwood that he had found on the beach.

[Linked Image]

Later that afternoon, I took the piece of wood and the engagement ring and hid them under a bush in one of the beautiful spots on the west end of Anegada.

[Linked Image]

I marked the bush with a stick with a piece of orange tape on it so that he could find it, then came back and told him where to look for it.

[Linked Image]

He took his girlfriend on a walk around around to the west end. He went up to the bush line and returned to his girl.

She said "Yes!"

I was in the bush nearby with my camera when he made the proposal. They showed the proposal photos at their wedding.

They come back to Anegada every spring!

I was proposed to at Sandbox; married at Saba Rock - but that was many years ago. If I could choose my place today for "the question", it would be the new back deck at Saba Rock. There is one particular, private little deck with a lounge for two. Let the staff there know what you're doing, and they'll make it special. Then the couple can return to Saba Rock for the wedding, and as many anniversaries as they can!

We are chartering a sailboat in May. Just the 2 of us and I am planning to pop the question then.

I think I will look for a secluded beach or anchorage.

Anegada......that would be my vote - but I like Rita's idea of the Baths as well.

Walker, that's a great story and I love that pic!!!!

I got married in the BVI 2005....it's been a love affair ever since

With the BVI or with B?!

For the sight of a proposal I would vote for Cooper simply because that is where I have taken my best sunset pic from.

I proposed to my girlfriend, now wife, in November of 2004 beside the lone palm tree on the top of Marina Cay. After we were done everybody else from the boat met us back at the restaurant for a celebratory dinner. I thought is was pretty special, and she did say yes...

So I am now engaged to be married!

Popped the question at Cane Garden Bay. Came at the end of a wonderful day where we sailed from North Sound to Monkey Pt. for lunch and snorkel and then a beautiful sail along Tortola's north shore int CGB right at 5.

Rather than have dinner at 1 place we strolled along the beach and got drinks and appetizers at a few different spots. The Paradise Club had a loveseat on the beach with a fire pit in front of it and no one else around. Very romantic spot! Afterwards we strolled down to Mayett's for champagne and dessert.

Congrats!! and Walker that story is great!! good job at pulling that off can't help but think how it could have gone sideways if you had been spotted creeping in the bushes with a camera LOL!!!

Hey JWH,

I had plans to charter in the BVI for my honeymoon. Problem was finding someone to go with me.
In 1990, at age 36, and still no prospects, a friend suggested I sign on with a big group heading down for a BVI charter. 16 woman and 12 guys on three Moorings 50 ft mono hulls.

So I went on my long planned honeymoon trip with out a wife. First trip was Quite a party.

Funny thing happened on that trip.... I met my future wife!
Been married 21 years and we still love the BVI.
Must be something in the water...beer...rum......?

[Linked Image]

Good luck to you.

btw Plenty of great proposal spots in the BVI, ours happened at home, but this view is hard to beat.
