Does anyone have any information about anchoring in the span between Pomato Point and the extreme western tip of Anegada? Navionics shows it as an anchorage but I never see boats there. It seems fairly approachable if you use a bit of caution as there appear to be only a few coral heads based on the chart. Of course you probably need settled conditions for it to work, but other than that is there another reason to not anchor in that area? I suppose getting to your lobster dinner won't be quite as easy, but other than that it seems like a nice area - especially when it gets crowded in the main anchorage.

Thanks,

Matt

It's fine if you're on a private boat. Most if not all charter companies restrict Anegada to the main anchorage.

The anchorage to the northwest of Pomato Point is the deepest anchorage on Anegada - deep almost to the edge of the water. There are patches of coral on both sides of the anchorage, and I have seen boats ground on them. Serious shoals lie farther outside both edges of the anchorage.

The water in the anchorage is normally flat. The only time that the anchorage is uncomfortable is when a north swell is running.

To get in, approach from directly in front of the beach cottages (blue roofs).

I have the anchorage and the hazards accurately depicted on my approach chart.

Thanks for info. Sounds like a nice option. I'll chat about it with our charter company and definitely keep it in mind on future trips.
