Another tax against the tourist. BVI government thinks tourists don't care about the money they spend. They are dead wrong. For me as a villa owner, they just raised the villa rental tax from 7 to 10%, , VRBO/homeaway just added a "service" tax of about 6%, USVI added a $10 tax to leave USVI, BVI added departure tax of $20, There are many other taxes. fees, charges etc that have been added. The golden goose is dead. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

They apparently think that people will continue to pay and pay and pay, regardless of how much they increase taxes.

tpcook said: Another tax against the tourist... USVI added a $10 tax to leave USVI,... I do agree that the governments in the Caribbean see tourists/visitors a major source of income for their pockets. The $10 from the USVI is a Port Authority "fee" to help pay for the various facilities they look after. But you are right, I don't really want to go to the BVI anymore because of the nickle and diming.
