Have another trip planned but would rather go and”help”sxm businesses.

Our usual haunt at Mt Vernon has some units up and running.

We dont need much and prepared for surprises like power and water outages.

Willing to cart folding chairs, umbrella, and cooler full of beer, soda and sandwiches if necessary to orient if Perch not operational. Hoping it is.

Wondering what rental car situation will be and safety situation by then.

I would certainly think that the Perch would be operational by February. As far as rental cars, again, I think you should be able to get a rental car. It's not going to be 'business as usual', but if all you want is to sit under a yellow umbrella and look out at Green Cay, on the best nude beach in the world, it should suffice.

Sounds perfect Pelican. The car rental place we use, Automax, is up and running. The only caveat is if you like to use the pool at Mt. Vernon. We like to use the pool in the evening--StudioSXM couldn't give any kind of timeline as to when the pool would be operational. It's hard to imagine much better than sitting under those yellow umbrellas all day, so you're probably in for a great trip.

Looks like we wont be coming in February. While it was all possible, including selling our booked cruise, after looking at some recent damage videos, we decided the the experience might not qualify for a vacation yet.

Primarily, we felt lodging might be navigating a daily construction site and might be inconvenient at best and dangerous at worst.

Maybe June for third year in a row.

Sorry SXM.

Mt. Vernon did have a lot of damage. There doesn't seem to be much accommodation available on the French side other than villas..

checkout monrevesxm's website. He has 2 small pools & his own rental cars. Just up the road from friars bay. no hurricane damage as it is cement building with cement roof.
