Perfect timing for this thread considering the land giveaway hitting the news. Thanks for sharing the link

Thanks for the article. Unfortunately for those of us who have been returning to SXM for many years, we have seen the problems with governing of the island.

IMHO, I think since SXM went on its own, things have gotten worse. I go back to 1991 and have local friends on the island. They used to follow, argue, talk and THINK the politicians cared. In talking to him the other day, I think he has given up on the politicians of late.

I unfortunately agree. My wife and I have been regulars since 1984 when we purchased a Pelican timeshare. Unless something happens to get them out of this precarious spiral I fear the worst several years down the road. It’s a great island and many of the people I’ve met there I consider friends so I hope they can get some responsible people in charge. I’m back in 6 weeks and cannot wait especially since we missed our December share

Interesting, and pretty pessimistic, read. Everything else aside, one of the things that most concerns me is the forecast of a 2018 hurricane season that is similar to 2017. With rebuilding and cleanup of 2017's damage not completed before 2018's season hits, the results could be catastrophic.

All depends on the track the systems take.

I feel so sad for the island that I love. So sad...this is eye opening and scary. For everyone.
