Our journey started in Denver at 9pm on Friday night. It became a rough journey as we had plane issues in Charlotte and instead of landing in SXM at 1:15pm, we landed at 9pm. I had called Empress car rental when we were delayed, and no worries meant just that. There was a smiling face waiting for us at Empress that took us right to the Mustang Convertable we rented. The drive from there to Belair was an hour long but we made a quick pull in at Lido's lolo for ribs as rice to have for a late supper for dead tired travlers.

We went to the Grand Marche on Sunday Morning and found many familar faces from our Charlotte flight.
With supplies at hand we spent the day beaching at Belair Beach. Before we arrived we had heard the beach was gone at Belair this was not the case there was beach to walk and lay on but the water would come right under the beach chairs with nearly every wave. Clean water- no seaweed.

Monday we headed to Club O, we saw signs for parking fees but never paid one. We spent a fabulous day with many old friends, and new ones. The chair fee was 20 dollars for two chairs and an umbrella. The perch was closed for repairs and didn't reopen until 10-17-2011. When it did the drinks were as good as ever, Willy is Fabulous!

Tuesday we took a lazy day and beached at Belair. We snorkeled around the Divi area of little bay. We saw many fish, and squid. We also saw lion fish, lots of them. We later heard they were a preditor that the nature folks were hunting, so we made a report of our find to them.

We then started our pattern of every other day at Club O and Belair beach. I made drip castles at Club O and Belair because you never out grow getting a sandy bottom.

We dont eat out much since my husband is one of those picky eaters. We eat alot of lolo food, and he cooks. We also found a frozen escargot that is awesome,at the Grand Marche, 12 snails, for under five dollars, heat 10 minutes and eat. We ate them alot.

We had our furniture at our apartment at Fishermans Wharf recovered while we were on island. That was yet another island experience that let me know island life is vastly different than home. My tenant is happy with the new fabric, good thing since I all of had seven choices.

We went to Rima for our gifts for home, Kennys for handbags for our girls, and Linens Galore for beautiful table runners.

When we arrived we decided to not watch any tv, no computers, cell phones and only listened to radio in the Mustang while we drove. All in all it was the ususal wonderful St. Maarten experience we always have.

We loved more, laughed more, and held hands and walked the beach everynight. I love the way SXM makes us feel, and act....like spring break for adults.

I posted pictures that should open to public on my facebook page at Savanah Thorne.

One last traffic thought we found it easier and faster to get to the airport, and Maho and Mullet by going the French side way. On Saturdays and Sundays Cay Bay hill was so backed up with folks trying to get to the airport we went the french way.

See you next year SXM!
