Day 11 "Fun in the Sun"
We have reached the half way mark, but the great thing about this trip is we still have eleven more days to go! The weather has been exceptional and it seems every morning we awaken to glorious sunshine. We had our usual breakfast in the condo and just spent a relaxing morning hanging out "at home". We decided against going to the beach today and wanted to do something a bit different. On beach days we really are so held down by "sand gravity" that not much seems to get done!
At noon time, we got ready and went to Grand Case via Marigot to have lunch at Enold's. The food there is fantastic and the view is wonderful overlooking the azure water and beach. We started the meal with fish fritters which were served with a vegetable and oil dipping sauce and were delicious! For the main course, I ordered the grilled mahi mahi served with rice and peas and salad. David chose the ribs with the same sides. Both entres were excellent! For dessert we shared a plate of profiteroles and they were some of the best we have tasted. The total including two beer was $45 with a decent conversion rate.
We were going to spend some time on the beach there as it is so quiet and pretty, but there was a brief shower so we decided to persue our passion for photography and use the time to explore some different areas on the French side and get some shots we usually don't have the time to get. The shower was very brief hardly wetting the car, and in a few minutes the sun was shining brightly again. We got a few shots around Grand Case, visited Anse Marsel, went to the Ma Dou Dou Factory in Cul de Sac and visited the shops at Paradise View. We purchased a few bottles of Ma Dou Dou and some nice shot glasses at the factory and of course sampled some different flavors they are making now. It is always a nice stop there. It was fun and relaxing just touring around the countryside!
On our way back to Simpson Bay, we stopped into the Ocean Club Bar and Grill for Happy Hour. We had a good visit with Ken and had a few cocktails. Ken makes a drink called "dirty sex on the beach" which is truly unique ! It is always a great drink to finish the evening! The bar was full and many people were gathering for dinner there. They serve breakfast from 8:30 till 11:00 A.M. each day and have rib night every Wednesday. Happy Hour is from 5:00 P.M. till 6:30 P.M. and all drinks are 2 for 1. It is really nice to see some new businesses doing so well in spite of the economy!
We left the Ocean Club at 7:00 P.M. and went to the Islandgem Cafe for dinner tonight. Salad and burgers were on the menu and were delicious! We relaxed for awhile after dinner and then went out to enjoy some nightlife in the area. We made our donation to the Hollywood Casino, but luckily we will not have to pay taxes on tonight's winnings.
