Haven’t posted in quite a while. We have been going to St. Martin twice a year for many years and was scheduled to be there as the hurricane hit. My husband wanted to go back this year but I was hesitant so we booked a cruise with a stop there.
My thoughts. They still have a long way to go but so promising to see construction everywhere. We rented a car at the pier and headed straight to Orient. It was very early and we saw the devastation as we drove. Boats and cars flipped everywhere but as we headed into Orient there were new palms planted and homeowners working everywhere. Petit Casino was working hard as well as Bikini beach.
So happy to see my favorite restaurant, Le Pimient, as well as several others opening, but was tough to see the total devestation on the beach. Almost didn’t stay, but another couple parked next to us and they had been there for the week and encouraged us to stay, saying that Sundowner and another would have their chairs set up soon.
They were right and we soon had 2 chairs, umbrella and drink in hand!
Stayed there for a couple of hours and moved on to check out the rest of the island. Grand Case was certainly hit hard and Marigot as well. Drove to Mullet hoping to have Rosie’s ribs and was not disappointed. Tarps were up and the beach looked great. We have ignored the wandering vendors for years up and down the beach but bought something from everyone who walked by. Don’t you know they need it?!
So now I know we are ready to go back and will be there in January. Can hardly wait. It is and always will be paradise to us. Just pray they will not be hit again.

Thanks for posting your report! We also just returned from 12 days on the island (still have to get our trip report in), and are incredibly happy we went. We were welcomed with big greetings everywhere we went and had a great time. In fact, we are going back again for another 12 days in November. wave
