Day 7

Walked up the stairs at 6:30 to see St Croix clearly for the 1st time this trip. Also saw 2 Carnival ships heading into STT. Those 2 plus another Carnvial and Oasis will rule out Trunk and Cinnamon today. We'll decide between Hawksnest, Maho and Francis for today. Who knows what we'll pack into our final day.

Once again, the crew is in no hurry to get the day started, but by 8:30 everyone is up. Even one young girl hits the pool before we head out after breakfast of bacon and egg sandwiches and wraps.

As we drive through Cruz Bay, we decide to that Hawksnest will be the destination of the day. On our past trip we went there twice and really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and smallness of the beach. On the previous visits, the bay had been full of big swells. With the wind out of the southeast on this trip, the bay would be calm and perfect for a lot of snorkeling for our last day.

We arrive and the parking lot is nearly empty, so we find a great spot on the beach right in front of the reef. Easy access for snorkeling. A quick trip from the Jeep to the beach and our piece (peace) of paradise is setup for the day. We had an hour or so of uninterrupted tranquility before the jungle buses started arriving with the cruise ship passengers.

Parker and I hit the water when the first group arrived. Once again we were in virgin territory for us, so we took our time exploring the in and outs of the reef directly in front of the beach. Some very shallow spots and some nice drops made for a relaxing swim in the Caribbean. She really enjoyed the snorkeling this trip, and I think it may be time to schedule a family scuba lesson so we can explore other areas on future trips.

Small break for lunch and a DoD, the Guava Cruzan and Sprite Zero. Good stuff.

L.B. decides to join us for our next go. We heard others talking about turtles out near the markers, so off we went. We took our time, really scouring the area for the turtles, but no luck. We decided to go over to the other side of the rocks where there was only single person on the beach.

The three of us hung out for a bit just talking and enjoying the day. Good swim back along the edge of the rocks, then down the sandy beach. Just a lazy island day. We spent the rest of the afternoon between the water and the shade, enjoying paradise for just a little while longer.

We planned pizzas for dinner so we could pack and relax around the house on our last night. Turns out to be the best sunset of the week. Multiple cameras were set up on the porch watching the fantastic moment when the big orange ball hid behind St. Thomas. Oh to be there right now with the island breezes and tropical flowers. Tomorrow we fly out after lunch, so we won’t be in a rush.
