I dont post here very often, but had to share this. We have a vacation planned for March 15-March 23. We went through Travelosity and booked it quite a while ago. We were to leave Hartford on the 15th and connect through San Juan On Jet blue. We were supposed to arrive at approx. 2:45 PM.. The return trip was on AA. Yesterday we got an email from Travelosity informing us that our fight down was cancelled by Jet Blue. Jet Blue offered us 3 options: 1 and 2 were overnight flights and 3 was a refund. The overnight flights were not good for us since we were already booked for the night of the 15th. There was a number to call, so my wife called. She spoke with a gentleman who did an outstanding job settling the problem.. He booked us and the other couple on an AA flight from Hartford to Phil to SXM. the flight leaves at 5:49 and arrives in SXM 1:28. The connecting time in Phil is 2 hrs so we should have enough time even though it says we have to change terminals. The gentleman said he would take care of the refund and that it will take some time to see the credit on our card but for us to watch for it. This new flight is actually a better flight and is less expensive than the previous one that was cancelled. We are looking forward to returning to SXM since our travels took us elsewhere the past few years. Just a quick question. We are staying in the Upper B building in Simpson Bay Resorts. Any recommendations for places to eat near there? Thanks

There are numerous places within walking distance. The Hideaway at La Vista, La Patrona & the Sports Bar at SBR. Isola, Greenhouse, Buccaneer Beach Bar, A new Chinese restaurant where so French was. At the bottom of the hill Sale & Pepe, Jimbo’s, a little upscale Frenchy Lugo. A little further Skip Jack, Toppers, the Yacht Club & a few others I can’t remember their names. You won’t go hungry.

...and if you like Thai food..Avantika across from Sale & Pepe....and Bavaria for German food...near Market Garden...and the new place that is where Bon Appetite was should be done by then ....plenty of choices

Which unit in the upper B? That's our building...

Re Philly: No issue with two hours. We landed in terminal A from PVD and walked 10 minutes to terminal B (moving walkway)

And just beyond the Buccaneer Beach Bar past greenhouse soon to be Lee's new place. Also Avantika for fabulous Thai food across from Toppers.

not sure what unit in the upper B building. I know its an up and unit facing the pool. Its our friends time share unit. Ill ask her when i talk to her. Also thanks for all the restaurant recommendations. We used to do a lot of cooking on the grills but we would like to try some of the great places to eat.

greg--Glad you were able to get the flights rearranged, despite the cancellation. Enjoy!

Just wondering why you didn't look into JFK. I know it's about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive but it's a direct flight. I usually stay away from the travelocity type sites because I have had problems like that before. I now usually book directly through the carrier, either by phone or web. In June I'll be driving about 3.5 hours from Sarasota to Fort Lauderdale to save 50% and be non-stop on Jet Blue. The other options were to drive close and have to fly north to either Atlanta or Charlotte before flying to SXM as well as on the return. Not saying anything negative just wondering.

greg1 Just for future information

Jet Blue web site for us has always been same price as a third party site so we check the sites for price then book direct with Jet Blue. So far no problems. They have changed times on occasion but they email you and you log in your reservation # and when it comes up it asks you to confirm that you accept the change or negotiate another flight option. Very easy---for us anyway.

Thanks for the information. My wife usually goes to carrier directly.. This time she was talked out of it. (won't happen again). As for the drive to JFK, we did it once and the other couple didn't like the drive back. It was less expensive and direct, which i liked, but when you go with someone who has the timeshare, you kinda have to do what they want. I'd even go to Boston and fly out of Logan, but again, he will only go out of Hartford.

I would second the suggestion of Bavaria.

Someone mentioned. "Frenchy Lugo", it is actually "Frenchy LUDO'S" and is very new. I have no personal knowledge of the place other than location.

Glad you got the flights worked out.
