Chartering a power cat, only have 5 days. Most on the trip have never been to BVI, so want to pack a lot in, however want to relax and not be under power the whole time going from A to B to C...Is Anegada a "must see". The trip is a ways out (Feb 2020), and understand that whatever itinerary we go with that we will likely tweak it during the week. I'd prefer to skip Anegada unless really convinced.

Thanks!

With only 5 nights I would skip Anegada. You won’t be able to hit all the high points even not going there. Keep it relaxed!

Thanks, that is my thought and preference, too. Everyone keeps mentioning Anegada, thought "geez, am I really missing out if I skip it". Think if we try and include Anegada the week will feel too rushed (already know unfortunately that it will fly by).

For some Anegada is the highlight of the trip. I am in that camp.

Love Anegada!!! We plan on 2 nights there in May weather permitting.

Fly, if you don't get there this time, it will give you a reason to return!

I couldn't agree more. Going to Anegada doesn't take any longer than going anywhere else, particularly in a power cat.

I would decide on Anegada based on what you want to see and do. If you want to see the best beaches in the BVI, the best beach bars in the BVI, and the friendliest people in the BVI, you should go to Anegada.

If you want to focus on hitting the tourist sights like Willy T, Baths, Soggy Dollar, etc you might consider skipping it.

Personally, it's not a charter trip for me without at least 1 night at Anegada.

+1 vote for Anegada being worth the extra few miles.

Anegada is always the highlight of our trips to the BVI. I would skip any other stop on the trip to be able to go. Cow Wreck, Wonky Dog ....... I can’t wait til June!

I have been to BVI four times and never went to Anegada. I am going the first week of May 2019 and would love some advice from Anegada vets. Itinerary suggestions. We chartered a sailing cat and have a crew of 5. All comments welcomed!
we are Sunday to Sunday and have newbies with us that want to see some other sites, Like Jost Van Dyke, and possibly Cane Garden. Once the caves are seen, no real need to go again, but they might want to. I am thinking we go north or south before Anegada, but probably not enough time to do both sides of Tortola. Is two days in Anegada too long? Once there, recommendations on where and what would be great! We are also not sure what areas have services. For example, Soapers Hole and Frenchman's Cay? Marina Cay? Looking for recent visitor comments for that.
Thanks very much!

DottDigital, we are big fans of Anegada. After multiple charter trips, we just spent a week on Anegada.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Cow Wreck - both for the beach, the bar and the food (lunch only) and Anegada Beach Club - quality of food is excellent.
IF you have 4 hrs to spend - the trip with Sherwin Wilcott with Teamwork Charters to see the conch shell mounds, snorkel, and experience eating fresh from the ocean floor conch ceviche on board was wonderful!

It is possible to do a 'quickie' on Anegada, which is usually on our itinerary. We leave early from North Sound on Virgin Gorda (usually Leverick Bay) and two-three hours later enter the anchorage at Anegada. Call Dean ahead of time to have a vehicle waiting (or the peeps at Anegaga Reef Hotel will fix you up). Make a beach crawl perhaps beginning at Flash of Beauty and continue to Loblolly (Big Bamboo), Anegada Beach Club, and Cow Wreck before finishing the loop back at the anchorage. You might not have time to visit all four unless you keep moving. We usually hit 2 or 3 of the four before time runs out. Be sure to make your dinner reservations early …. don't simply 'show-up' at any of the restaurants. Early the next morning leave the anchorage and head to Jost Van Dyke, about four hours away. Spend the afternoon at White Bay or one of the other JVD attractions. Two days on Anegada allows for more options, just depends on how many locations you want to hit on your itinerary.

Agree with Noel 100%. We've done the quick version several times. Whilst our preference is now for a 2 day stay, I'd rather do the quick version than miss it out!

If you leave North Sound at dawn then you'll have plenty of time to really enjoy the place. Never a bad thing to leave an island wishing you could stay longer, just means you'll have to start planning for that next trip!

Weather can be a factor, keep an eye on swell and wind forecast.

7 days is plenty to enjoy Anegada. First time plan one night and if you love it leave time in your schedule for a second. Jumping off points for most sailors are North Sound or Trellis/Marina Cay. It's a two hour or less sail. With 5 people think about renting a jeep. Our path is dock the dinghy at Potters. Refresh. Then head to Cow Wreck for lunch. Lime. Then Big Bamboo. Lime. Back to Potters. Refresh. Dinner at Wonky Dog. Back to Potters for late night refreshments.

What NCSailer said. Perfect plan.
