Having a wonderful time in Nice… But today not so much!

The plan was to go by train from Nice to Menton and enjoy a beautiful day! Then to Monaco to see the boats and maybe play a little roulette. When boarding the train in Menton to Monaco a man blocked the door as it was closing there was pushing from some young people. Our friend went to the floor, and my wife got slammed into the door and is now bruised on the leg. While helping the ladies up the man disappeared and so did my wallet.

As soon as the train started, I reached to my front pocket and felt that my point and shoot camera lens was extended and my wallet was gone!

The credit cards have been cancelled and 250 euros gone, but life is still good!

I would have rather donated my money to Prince Rainier in a Monaco Casino… but atlas some slim bag in Menton.

Sorry to hear that. We spent a month in France back in May and June without any problems. That included a couple of nights in Marseille which has a bit of a reputation for pick pockets but all went well.

Hopefully that's the end of your problems and you can enjoy the rest of your trip.

Daaaaamn Tom! Hope the ladies are ok, but being knocked down would tick me off. Sounds like a possible group coordinated incident, I was uncomfortable during our short but packed train trip from Monaco, people didn't care about personal space and were moving all around during the trip. You have your camera still so they didn't steal your memories! Stay positive bud!! by the way the pic with Kamel was liked by Donna and I.

Sorry Tom,
Getting on and off is where they work their schemes.

Similar experience by a friend of ours in July getting on the train in Nice. A group of teens/20s offered to help get luggage up on the shelf, he demurred and did it himself. The kids got off, and he reached into his pocket knowing he just lost a couple hundred Euros as he reached up and was jostled!

Well back in the USA

All the illegal pulls on credit and debit card have been restored by the bank! 😊😊😊
New health card in the mail!

Now sitting in the dreaded Divison of Motor Vehicles line to get my driver's permit replaced. Oh well time solves everything.

Welcome home and sorry about your wallet. I imagine having it stolen while on travel is way more than just a nuisance. I had to check my contact numbers to see if I would be able to contact the credit card companies in a timely fashion! If they got your wallet and phone could you imagine???

I need to kick out my next report before you make me look bad! Looking forward to your experience there!!

Carol - I will definitely get something uploaded soon! And there was lots of GOOD parts, and some Excellent!

Beerman - I will definitely chronical what I learned through the incident and what you need to do QUICKLY! I learned a lot! I have always considered myself a seasoned traveler since I have been doing it since 1972 and have worked in Europe and Caribbean.
Bottom line - if the pros come after you they will win.

I will not start on my report until next week. Priority one is preparing for a wine presentation I will be doing on Friday for 40 people.
I had finished the presentation before we left, but now I have to remember what I put together.
I am pouring six Spanish wines (2 of each region)
The topic is 3 Names (Tinto de Rioja, Tinta del País, and Tinto Fino), 3 Regions (Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Toro) One Grape - Tempranillo
So before I can think about France, I need to get my head in Spain.

Keep yours coming! joy
