Heading to Grenada (first time) in October and would like some recommendations of where to stay.

I travel alone so a studio would be ideal - a kitchenette for breakfast - clean, bug free, and close to the beach. I prefer Grand Anse area unless you have a better suggestion. I really have no concept of this island so any and all advice - restaurants, great beach bars (think Soggy Dollar BVI) etc... but I really want a simple, clean place for under $100 a night. And a website so I can go take a look at what they have.

Thanks!!!

Just putting in time until the next vacation.

You might struggle to get somewhere on Grand Anse for your budget. When I was working on my boat a few years ago, I had to go several miles away from the beaches to get under $100 a night.

I only found that place through the boatyard notice board but they may have become more internet aware by now. Things might have changed so you could get lucky.

Grand Anse Beach Palace Hotel is on the north end of the beach and the rooms are near your price range.

Drink all day at home, your friends worry about you; do it on vacation and they say "what a good time you're having". Save your friends needless worry, travel more!

The last time I sailed from Grenada, I stayed a couple of nights at the Allemanda. It was clean and basic for around $100 per nt. Just a hotel room though, refridge, but no cooking capability. This time, heading straight for the boat! See you in October!

It's been a few years since we vacationed in Grenada (which we loved)but did not stay on Grande Anse. Instead we stayed in a small hotel on Morne Rouge which IMHO is far more beautiful and quiet. There is a deal on Skyauction right now for the Kalinago Hotel which after taxes is under $100 a night. Website shows a nice looking place and I would not hesitate to bid on that one. Problem is trying to find a flight to Grenada from the east coast is almost impossible. Good luck!

I'm no Grenada expert, by any stretch. The airfare wasn't too bad from the E. Coast for this Oct. I was able to use A.A. miles (which I wanted to burn for a variety of reasons) and was able to get there in a day out of Hartford. I looked for a friend and the price was $640 R/T....not great, but not too, too bad. It did entail a LOOONG layover in MIA, but it was about the same out of Hartford as NY, or BOS.....just throwing that out there...I have no idea what the OP is going to find out of Vancouver....

Last time down we met and talked to folks that were staying at Jennies Place and they said it was very nice, at the north end of Grande Anse and in your price range. Here's a link:

Regarding Mourne Rouge, I've "heard 2nd hand" some people complain about noise from a nightclub late at night. Just sayin' you might want to research that a bit if you're thinking of staying over there.

I have found a lot of interesting info on www.grenadaexplorer.com We just arrived a couple weeks ago to spend hurricane season here on our boat. We are looking to move ashore for a while to do some dusty projects. You might also look through www.homestaysgrenada.com to see if any of these accommodations sound interesting to you.

Hello!

Agree with the post about Kalinago on Morne Rouge beach--it is lovely and we enjoyed it more than Grand Anse (which is just a short walk away) Did not have any problems with noise and there are several restaurants within walking distance as well as one at the hotel...

Also agree with using the grenada forums mentioned above--a lot of good info there---

enjoy!

seaview apartments and wellness center check it out on grenada explorer - we have stayed there for several years, right on Grand Anse Beach with a walkway to the bus stop into St. Georges. Owners Glenn and Margaret are great hosts. All units less than $100. per nite. Great location, great price.
