Washington DC, January 4-5, 2020

The last couple of years we have chosen to make a family xmas gift consisting of a fun weekend away. We still unwrap presents, just not as many now! I think the memories are more valuable than the socks!!

After searching many destinations within a 3 hour drive we settled on Washington DC, which is a very short drive from our Virginia home. I worked in DC for many years and it seemed like too obvious of a choice, but playing tourist in our own backyard turned out great!

We used an app called Hotels Tonight and secured 2 rooms at the lovely Georgetown Inn the night before arrival. Cost per room $115 per night included taxes, not bad! We covered some serious ground from there, fun and games, eating and drinking and fitting in a little history along the way, great weekend!

very cool ...I love doing these type of trips also ...stay tuned for some easy coast of Canada stuff soon .
Love your pictures and so nice to see your family...that’s one downside of my photography ...I love scenery and don’t often take pictures of people including myself ...I will try to do better . Only problem....my hubby hates pictures and getting his picture taken

These are all cell phone pics, too lazy to bring the big camera. If the man sitting on the park bench in the Azores is your hubby?, you are a smart photographer! I can certainly wear my family out taking pics, often times they simply walk away when I'm doing my thing. When I catch up I say "why'd ya leave me" usually followed by eye rolls. I do take time to "take it all in" as seen in this pic from my wife's camera!

The last shot with the family and the reflecting pool in the background appears to have an additional traveler smile with the Beerman family...
Great shots with a phone.

It is funny to me that we have national treasure and so much to do so close and do we do not take full advantage of it.

We went up right before Christmas to see Andrea Bocelli and stayed for the night. I truly enjoyed the National Portrait Museum. I had never been there before.

I liked the Museum... I think Janet liked the Concert better doh

"additional traveler" that would be the boyfriend, Craig, he first appeared here in my S/V ORION trip reports in 2017!
