I just want to post that the virus has put a delay on passport renewals. They currently are not accepting expediting service and cannot guarantee any time line for mailin renewal. My passport expires this July and I spoke to a repressive on the toll free number and she recommended waiting on sending it in until the staff is back. I need the renewal for our Oct 31 trip and she said it may not be done by that time. I called back later spoke to another represtative and he was more helpful by saying if I send it now and I can follow up in July or August and upgrade to the expedited process if they up and running. Thiis is just a heads up if you need a renewal. Passport processing was suspended on 3/19/2020. If you need it in an emergency, you'll have to visit a passport office. Here is their FAQ https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/passport-covid-19.html

Thanks for that headsup. I didn't even think about passport renewals. Ours are good until 2023, I think, so I hope this situation will be behind us by then.
