And now we have the second named storm of the year, before June 1.

Wow, hadn't even paid any attention to that. SXM in particular surely does not need any hurricanes!

I read that was one of the factors why Diamond has pushed the reopening into early spring. Was also stated that if nothing was affected to slow down construction that they would be able to open earlier. Was indicated that it takes about 2 weeks prior to a major storm to secure all materials and another 2 weeks to re group to get started again. Time and mother nature will dictate.

Just more hype from the NOAA. I mean when have you heard them say there would be a below average season. That wouldn’t create a panic like this forecast will. The media jumps all over this, you know they love death and destruction. It will be just like other years around August they will revise it downward. They can’t get the weather right in the next 24 hours, how can anyone take a hurricane forecast seriously for the rest of summer and fall. I do live on the Texas coast so I have been through a few hurricanes.

I hope you're right but I will side with NOAA on this.

Are you considering cancelling your upcoming trip given this most official information? 😀

My magic 8 ball this morning said next year will be worse. And I shook it up real good.

Its a little Island in the middle of a big ocean. It happens but you still have to be very unlucky to get a direct hit. I have been going to SXM over 25 years and never had a second thought or problem going during hurricane season. To me the weather is some of the best of the year, calm clear seas and winds, not as crowded and better prices.

Ok, just curious and that is what I thought. Reason I asked is Delta is currently NOT showing any flights until August.

So far AA is still showing it as full and still going but that can change in a heartbeat.

Good for you and hope it is a smooth and great trip.

Need More like you to get back in the water and spur airline/lodging demand back to normal and save these businesses and overall economy of USA and SXM.

Unfortunately there hasn't been a stop to spending in or household. Always something to fix.

For DL, look at Jun 28, and then the first week of July. That's as far as I looked.

Yes, they are showing some flights now, must have added them after I checked as I saw nothing until August initially. Thanks.
