So, I take the test during the required period, but don't get my results before I fly? What do I do then? Rhetorical question......

Not so rhetorical - My time-share begins on Sunday, January 3rd. Well the 2nd is obviously a Saturday, and the 1st is a holiday - there go my 72 hours!

Ours begins on a Saturday, so pretty much a similar problem. I don't think there's a good answer to the question. I do know that in our area, tests are being performed seven days a week. Whether the tests are analyzed and results disseminated on weekends, I don't know. I was beginning to feel a little more confident about our November vacation, but not now...

Well, I think that is going to let a lot of people out. No way that one could get a test result within 72 hours here in Florida, and probably in most of the rest of the country. At this point, most Americans will probably give up, and that may be for the best, as far as the island being protected from major Covid 19. However, I feel sorry for locals who are trying to support their families..

And that requirement isn't just for Americans. If that doesn't change before high season, the island's economy will die. Period.

My understanding is that KLM is doing PCR tests for their pax. They will be able to comply.

That's good news then. Perhaps our airlines will step up. That seems to be the only way to comply.

Not sure that is the kind of test that SXM accepts though.

In the Daily Herald link in the post about the couple refused entry, it was stated a Polymerase Chain Reaction test (PCR) required for SXM

PCR is what is required for SXM, yes. As to whether the test that zeus is referring to is a PCR test, I don't know.

Just randomly checked CVS Minute Clinic for testing.

1) You have to qualify for testing (symptoms or exposure)
2) "Rapid Test" results given on site in 30 minutes
3) Specimen sent to lab for PCR testing
4) results within 6-10 days

I just got back from having a test done for a procedure on Thursday. Wicked headache from it. Not sure the type but results will be in in 24-48 hours. Only had to go into each nostril an inch not “all the way”. While there I inquired If they will be doing them for vacations and they looked at me funny! Said no, only if you’re showing symptoms or for a medical procedure. This was a lab affiliated with our local hospital.

They seemed to take the website down, it is now back up, however, the changes that we there this morning are gone, the website is saying last updated July 9th, seems like they weren't ready to release the new info

All SXM websites were "domain not found" for a while this morning. I see the same thing that you do on the tourism website. I wonder...hope!...the changes were not correct. If they are going to require a test within 72 hours of travel, most of us will not be able to go.

With my carrier, the PCR is a doctor ordered test. I have to have a Zoom meeting with doctor who understands this would be for international travel requirement, and then he can order the test be done with a lab test. You schedule the lab test to happen within 72 hours of travel. Those results are available within an hour or two.

I saw in one Travel Weekly article that Aruba’s hotel occupancy has surged to around 60% since opening and the other open islands getting busy as well. I think they have that 72 hour requirement also so somehow people must be getting the test back in time to travel. Amazing to me so many places around the USA you still can seem to get s quick results. I our area the free test take 5 days but the paid one at a clinic is just hours. We hope to go in September.

Aruba also allows uploading of the negative test result prior to departure...and it allows testing on arrival from those visitors not from high case states (24 of the 50 states are listed as high COVID states)

Quote
MPORTANT: Uploading a negative test result prior to travel to Aruba is the only option available to residents of the following US States for being granted entry to Aruba:

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Residents of all other US States and other countries with whom Aruba’s borders are open will have the alternative option of taking a PCR test immediately after arrival in Aruba, which is mandatory if a negative test has not been uploaded within the required timeframe prior to arrival. The cost of this test is US$75 per person and needs to be pre-paid as part of the online embarkation/disembarkation process. Children 14 and under are not required to take the PCR test.

Yo Philly Girl,

Not sure flights will be open on August 22 but if we can go we will need the tests and we are in the Philly area.
Any suggestions on getting test in Philly area within 72 hours may be helpful.
Maybe it's your carrier, we have the normal Independence Blue Cross.

Appreciated,
Maho Kid (out near KOP)

Where is this list coming from? Vermont has the lowest CV19 cases and is not on the list?

It is not the only problem I see... What if you are able to take the test and have the results in 3 days... What if the virus is detected ? Because you know you can be positive and have no symptoms !! That is a big problem! Will insurances cover cancelled vacations ? We are supposed to be there in décember.... not sure either...

T

The list is from the Aruba Government and list the states that residents need a negative test before departure. Vermont is not on the list because of reasons you have stated.
