We are interested in a 7 day charter in SVG. Last time (2007) we used Catamaran Co out of Union Island, which is now non-existent, as is Moorings at Canouan. Some options include picking up in St. Lucia or Grenada, sailing to SVG, and leaving from there. I would be interested in any thoughts about travel, the passage, customs, cost, and general hassle vs. getting a boat in St. Vincent. Looking for a large catamaran, and options are limited there. Thanks!

I would try looking up some crewed charterers to discuss the different options.

You might want to consider a charter from Barefoot Yacht Charters out of St. Vincent. The entire team at Barefoot is exceptional, with incredible knowledge of the Grenadines, and helpful in so many ways. We have been booking our charters with Barefoot for eight years, and have made great friends and would highly recommend their services. The have a wonderful location in Blue Lagoon, a great restaurant for meals, and lovely rooms for stay before and after your charter. They have several large catamarans for you to choose from and certain they will make your charter great.

Our boat is in St. Lucia and we took it from St. Lucia south to the Tobago Cays and back again. Going through customs was not a big deal at all.

The sail from St Lucia to St. Vincent was great too - saw some large pods of Dolphins and a group of whales as well.

Another option is a one way charter from St Lucia to Grenada. We did that 2 years ago - a couple of long passages
St Lucia to St Vincent and PSV to Grenada. Great sailing.

Customs tskes a little time - but if you are friendly and not in a hurry its not an issue.

I've done the string quite a bit ... I would suggest starting North and coasting South - St. Lucia to Grenada is just about perfect... The other way can be bumpy. Cocktails spilling - sea water on your shades kind of thing...

Does that change at all with the season? Is it bumpy-er going N at any particular time of year? Thx.

I highly recommend starting in St. Lucia and going to Grenada. Or even better starting in St. Vincent since you only have 7 days.. We chartered with Horizon which is based in Grenada and they delivered the boat to St. Vincent for us. There are a few charter companies that will do this for a fee.

Noth to South the way to go. We did SL to Grenada in seven days, easy sail. Moorings in Marigot Bay was just awesome.

This was a similar dilemma for us this year. Chartered through Barefoot last year and loved it, but they seem to have changed their fleet a bit and the boat we had last year is gone. Didn't find one to meet our needs. But they were a nice company to deal with.
