A protest against France's recently announced vaccination requirement is schedule for early on Saturday, July 24. What I'm told is that protesters are assembling at the Agremont Roundabout at 6AM, and a protest march will begin at 7AM.

Right on the outskirts of Marigot, side nearest to Grand Case.

The roads were blocked to cars. It's over and was peaceful.

Your link didn't work. Link

"He added if the State proceeds with implementing its plan for a sanitary health pass, it will not be a march next time “but something at a whole different level.” Yikes!!

Thanks for posting the link. I forgot that the posting of links on the "full editor " method doesn't work on my tablet. That is why I sometimes have to post the full cut and paste method for the article.

It would appear that mainland France has also had enough.

It's a shame they are so reluctant to get vaccinated. The least they could have done was have masks on. Pictures showed few if any with masks and absolutly no social distancing. This protest will evntually keep tourists away from the French side. I for one, being fully vaccinated, would at this point not want to risk visiting the French side for the chance of picking up the virus and getting a positive test trying to return home.

We are on island now, and I agree completely with Scubaman. We will not be going to the French side anytime soon. Concerned about Covid and possible demonstrations.

I've heard that French side might be shut down for inter island travel. Stay tuned.

After the locals reaction the last time that they closed the French/Dutch border, chances that that will happen are slim.

Keeping the connection between St Martin and St Barth open is typically a priority, but who knows. St Barth had a big increases in cases last week.

The inter-island connection which is typically tightened is between St Martin and Guadeloupe, Martinique, and the South American department of French Guiana. There are typically exceptions for a limited set of “motifs impérieux” (compelling reasons).

The same “motifs impérieux” could also be reinstated between Europe and St Martin.

As you said, stay tuned.

As I suggested might happen, "Motifs Imperieux" are now in effect for unvaccinated travelers between France/La Metropole/L'Hexagon (pick one) and St Martin, St Barth, and Guadeloupe. Both ways.

I expect to see additional tightening.

Stay tuned... State of emergency with threat of curfews and lockdowns = more protests.
