I have looked at the dock fees and resort fees. As a charter, does the 3x price warrant a visit for a night to the resort for a returning crew to the BVI as a alternate? Recent experiences welcome. Thanks

We spent just one night in a slip in 2018 and absolutely loved it. The level of service and cleanliness of the pool area was outstanding. So in November of 2021 we were excited for 2 nights ( on either end of the charter )...this time, not so impressed. Pool towels were almost non-existent, upkeep of the pool area itself was lacking..I don't know, it was just a little disappointing I guess.

Thank you both for the insight!!...Manpot: Although not in the main group, we met as a result of a connection with Saildoggie in 2002..we stayed at shifting sands at little apple bay. You and Candace were very welcoming when we met you on your beach walk...just sayin'

Thank you again both for the insight!

We’ve stayed in a slip and at the hotel. Most recently at the hotel last month for 3 nights post charter. The place is beautiful and the service was wonderful. Some of the friendliest staff I’ve encountered.

Hi - I will be chartering through DYC end of April and will be staying over one night at the end of our Charter. If not to late for your vacation - I will add my impressions once vacation is completed. cheers!

I may be too late with my opinion, however if you plan to spend most of a day at Scrub and take advantage of the pools, N beach and hike the trail, it is probably well worth it. That said, you don't mention when you are planning to be there, but the docks were jammed with DYC boats which couldn't move, two weeks ago.

I've never had a good meal at Scrub although others have better luck.

Take the Scrub ferry to Trellis and eat at Marche or Loose Mongoose.

We have eaten at the Loose Mongoose twice now and have enjoyed both meals. Just make sure to bring your bug spray. I never get bit by noseeums but I do there!

Quick questions about 4 years ago we brought our dinghy to Scrub and went up to the pool and bar for a few hours. It was lovely, is that still allowed if you aren’t a hotel or paid slip guest? thanks

I know this is an old thread, but wondering the same as that last question. Does anyone know if there is a cost for a day pass or something if I want to dinghy over and let my kids swim in the pool or go to the beach for a couple hours?

We popped in last week to check things out. You must be a hotel guest or in a marina slip to use the pool - no day passes.

Must depend on what day you're there. We visited by dingy last month. The gentleman manning the towel booth asked for our room number. We told him we were on a ball at Marina Cay. He gave us both towels and asked that we return them before we left. We did go up to the bar and have lunch and drinks too. Great afternoon!

Scrub Island is a must on our itinerary every year as it my 12-year old's happy place. Unless things have changed since last July day pass wrist bands were available at the marina office. They were $30 or $40 per person, I can't remember the detail. We've also gone and simply used the facilities when it wasn't busy and never had an issue. The pools are as advertised and the Water Slide is a big hit with the kids. We ask nicely for towels and have never been refused. The drinks are plentiful and we have found both restaurants to be very good. As far as service, I find in all the islands that if you are friendly with them they will be friendly with you. We have not had a bad experience there. The hot tub is also a great place to socialize. We have never stayed there in a room or in a slip, opting always for a ball at Marina Cay.

We will busy again this July and may ever stop there two times! Highly recommended.

We talked with the pool towel individual, the concierge and the marina office. Everyone told us the same thing - you must be a house or marina (slip) guest to use the pool. We asked about day passes as we were on a ball at Marina Cay and were told they do not currently offer them. The marina was quite busy as was the pool so perhaps it is dependent on hotel and marina occupancy.

Scrub is now managing MC, including the moorings. Sandra Grisham-Clothier, whom some of you may remember from BE and PI, is now in charge of business development, including MC. This bodes well and we're excited to have MC as a dining option once again.

Scrub also has a new executive chef, a terrific young fellow previously at LDB. My "farm" having been quite productive, we left him many bags of produce to incorporate into his menus. I'm hoping this kind of creativity portends good things to come.

A revived/restored Marina Cay would be a welcome sight. We miss the days when MC was a regular part of our itinerary. If they manage to retain the character of earlier iterations, there is tremendous potential. Hoping for the best!

The own the moorings of course, but all payment is now through Boaty ball. The mooring balls are not yet numbered and labeled, so a guy comes around and tells you to pay for any random ball online (and gathers boat names to check).

If you pick up a mooring ball at Marina Cay and dinghy to Scrub to use the pool and eat is there a fee to use pool ?

When we were there earlier this month you had to be a house (hotel) or marina (slip) guest to use the pool. May depend on the occupancy rate. Being a restaurant guest had no bearing.
