Just returned from a week at Hermit island camp ground in Maine.
Loaded most of stuff Fri. afternoon, then put cold stuff and pillows sat. Am. Drove to Kittery Maine. Stayed in little motel.Had vodka martinis pool side waiting for son and family to arrive. Ate at Weatherevane Seafoods. (pretty good, but were having some kind of problem that night). Had sparkling wine back at motel, then bed time. AM arose and packed up. Went next door to truck stop for breakfast and gas. Drove the 2 or so hours to campground.
Went last year, but had a small cabin. This time we had a tent.
Bought the LL Bean 6 person dome with fiber glass polls and
vestibule. Very nice tent.Easy to set up, except being our first
tent, it took longer than it should have.(we were going to do a dry
run before, but never got to it) Kept us dry through a couple heavy
rains. We used Colman air beds. They were comfortable, but I
couldn't get them as full of air as I would have liked. Over all the
week was great. We had a 4 of our children and 3 of their spouses, 9
grand children for total of 18 on 4 sites. We shared cooking from
site to site.
Planning to do it again next year <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />
