...when it comes to VI weather forecasting?

Out of curiosity, I checked a few sites for the next week and they all were different. Close on some days but different.

[Linked Image]

Personally, I would like to pick and choose between the weather guessers on the forecast I like best for a given day.

So my guess is it is going to be sunny, with more clouds than I would like, and we will get some rain.

There'll all right, just for different places. It's a big forecast region. Imagine lumping Salt Pond, St. John with Bordeaux Mountain, St. John? Unless its a huge front, rain shadows and altitude have a big average effect.

Cheers, RickG

Wind forcasts in July by the National Weather Service were terrible.
We had two seperate days where wind was forcast in the 15 knot range and we had long periods of wind, hours, over 30 knots. Ugh.

I think the WindGuru and WindFinder sites are more accurate than the ones mentioned by OP - of course the majority of "weather sites" get their raw data from the National Weather Service so that may explain the across the board lack of accuracy.

I'm a fan of Winfinder if I'm trying to forecast the wind. If I'm getting ready to go NOW then I glance here to see actual current conditions over a large area. http://www.caricoos.org/drupal/

My go-to weather apps are Weather Underground and Hurricane Pro. I pay more attention to the radar than the forecast, though. LOL

Tom: The weather has been glorious. Looks like it should hold through the weekend...

We've had days on St. John where it rained all day in Cruz Bay and all the while the sun shone on Rendezvous Bay. In the absence of some huge weather system that overtakes the entire area, sun vs. rain totally depends on where you are at the moment. Gotta love the tropics.

Weather Underground appears to be in the lead as the most correct weather guesser so far

Saharan Dust Clouds have returned so now pretty skies, but the sun is out. So here is an animal shot of the day.

We had a great time, too. Sorry we had to eat and run! But we did make the ferry. WHEW! You vacationers are hard to hang with on a school night.

A beautiful day, but the grand views were not here today.

Thanks for the "Dust Photos". Never realized the haze it would create and now I better understand the effects it may have on coral reefs (though it is under reported). USGS has a short documentary about it that you might find interesting. http://coastal.er.usgs.gov/african_dust/documentary.html

Thanks for the link - I will definitely check it out. The dust in the picture is not that bad. I have seen much worst. I do not remember it in the 70s, but of late it seems there are more waves of dust every year.
