Here's a video drone view of the the show. The first segment is the charter boat section with CYOA's Helia 44 Wide Ranger across from the Moorings 5800.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4t2tJ8JAX4#t=25

Great show and a great weather day yesterday. Apparently we just missed TackingAg. Next time! Lots of great new boats that we hope to see in the VI soon - FP Saba 50, Marlowe-Hunter 37/40 and Beneteau Oceanis 38 were favorites. Some favorites that have been available for a while - FP Helia 44, Beneteau Oceanis 41, Jenneau 409.

It was interesting to walk the Moorings 4800 after going through the Fontaine Pajot cats; the Moorings 4800 looked pretty austere. We talked to a new owner who had ordered a FP Helia 44 for charter fleet delivery in February with gen/ac, water maker and ice machine. Wow, never need to leave the boat. The FP Saba 50 was extremely impressive; sounds like we'll see a few of these in charter fleets this winter. We had catamaran lust.

Cheers, RickG

Thanks for the update. There should, however, be a rule about this type of thing. After you buy your own boat you should never ever go to boat shows. It can cause sleepless nights, fever and high anxiety.

It's not what you've got, it's what you give, it's not the life you choose, it's the life you live.

Cool view of the show.

No surprise on the 4800 - its a charter boat. Not nearly as outfitted as other boats. Customize it for private ownership though and that changes.

Sorry we missed you Rick. Really enjoyed meeting you CaptainJay and the CYOA crew! The show was a blast. Met Paul and Sheryl from Distant Shores, had a few painkillers, met the team from Cruise Abaco that's next on our list, and picked out 4-5 yachts we couldn't live without. Good luck to all you TTOL'ers working or attending the rest of the show!

Love the Distant Shores crew pics. We tried to find them in the crush. Sorry I missed you, mobile battery was dying.

Cheers, RickG

That big wood hulled invitation only boat was gorgeous. Besides the Morris boats...sigh....your last picture...2.5mil

Did anyone see a guy wearing a "girls water-skiing shirt from the 1950s? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />", Hi, that was me.

Plan on coming down Saturday..when it is still raining in the morning. heading off to the Hendricks Gin tent...and heading off to Pussers (yeah we have one of those in my hometown of Annapolis smile

I think you can fly them for personal reasons as long as you follow certain restrictions and keep them within eyesight. Commercial use isn't allowed (for now at least) except for specific exclusions.

Quite a contrast between TackingAg's photo's and mine from yesterday! After spending my day at JWorld preparing for the ARC Caribbean/Bahama I snuck into the show late in the afternoon. It was fun to meet a few people while walking around, most notably Rex and Laura (Fun people, Laura is wonderful and Rex gave me the finger! would be great to party with you in the islands some time!), Barney and Karen (TMM), Capt Jay (CYOA)! Jay showed me around their Helia44 and all I can say is NICE boat!! I'll be at JWorld again today, might stop by for some sunny photo's??

Our charter company just unveiled their FP 52's at the show. Took member feedback and worked with FP to add some seating up front and other amenities. 4 new ones will be based in SXM first, then BVI. Have sailed on the 59's so imagine these will be really nice.

Thanks Beerman!! and yes so much fun and so great to meet you too!! We went back yesterday before we headed home, the day was just too beautiful compared to the day before so we had to take advantage. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" />

Looking at going to the 2015 Annapolis boat show in October. Any advise on what days to attend, are weekends too crowded, and how many days should we plan?

I have always found Thurs. to be far less crowded and considerably more professional with much more peer to peer camaraderie.
Weekends are crowded, depending on the weather of course, but depending on your personal interests in attending the show it may not matter - if you want to network with the owners and crew Thurs VIP day is the time to do it.

If you're serious about boat shopping (walking through different boats), spend the extra $$ and go Thursday. Since it costs a little more, and since it's a weekday, you won't get as much crowds walking through the boats. You'll have plenty of time to look over boats in detail. Friday is better than Sat/Sun, but not as good as Thursday. Forget about serious boat shopping on Saturday. Boats will be packed with adults and kids running everywhere. If you're going to the show for meeting vendors in the tents, like we plan to this October, then weekends are fine. Another tip if you're boat shopping: don't buy too many painkillers at the drink stands!
