I'll offer a different opinion.IF the cruise ships are not there or you arrive after about 2.30 when most have left CGB is still a great place to overnight unless we have a big north swell. You have a choice of dining..Indigo House down the beach is our favorite and many nights you have a choice of good music...Sunday nights at The Elm you have bar b q and the amazing Elmtones band..truly world class ( Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have played with them!) For breakfast we love Rhymer's right on the sand..basic but friendly and wonderful...Many love The Paradise Club...sadly Quito is not at his place most of the time..but Tracy or Bella at his beach bar are gems...

Yes, it is a great anchorage. At night there are no cruise ship guests and the swell is only a problem when it comes from the north; this is easy to check beforehand using your favorite weather app, I like to use Windguru BVI. If you look at the app right now, you'd see that CGB is to be avoided for the next couple of days! I 'm in St. Martin and the north swell has just subsided and I've gone ashore for the first time in 3 days - the waves were actually washing OVER the dinghy dock until this morning. Addnendum - I posted 12 seconds after @manpot and basically said the same thing

We had Cane Garden Bay off our list of stops post hurricanes and just started going back. We have tried to go on non-cruise ship days but that didn't work out on one of our trips and man was that entertaining! We decided that as long as it wasn't an everyday experience the cruise ship folks can offer hours of entertainment. You just have to be in the right mindset. Plus you can just walk a bit down the beach and find more seclusion. Funny, we were there in May with my son and his girlfriend and they both loved it and asked why we hadn't gone there before (he didn't remember trips from before the hurricanes). When we were there in January, we were with my brother and his family, who visit at least once a year. They said the same thing! I guess CGB is back on the list. As most others have said, definitely take it off the list if there is a north swell.

Sitting on the Beach at the Elm listening to great music as I type. CGB has great entertainment options most nights

Last I heard it was converted to an event space for Quito-s. Don't know if it ever took off.
