An update from Drew Mascarin of Beachside villa’s.
Dear guests,
To update you on this 5000 mile “barge” of Sargassum that is hitting the Caribbean and the state of Florida.
We at Beachside villas are working very hard to stay ahead of the onslaught of Sargassum hitting our shore line.
Just yesterday our staff loaded over 6ix truck loads to the dump!
Rest assure that our full time staff will be working hard every day until this wave of Sargassum passes through our beaches!!
To all our guests, thank you for your patience we are doing the very best we can to make sure your stay with us is an enjoyable one.
Warm regards
Drew Mascarin

Yes the crew/staff has done a great job on a monumental task. I would bet that they used over a 1000 bags to achieve their goal. WELL DONE!!! The problem is that the few property owners towards El Z choose to not clean up the mess and will eventually drift towards BSV. Tuff to find good neighbors.

Whale Tail--actually, the normal prevailing winds in that area just take the seaweed down to that area and it just stays there. It's been that way since we've been coming there. If there is seaweed, it's always much worse by El Z and they often have not cleaned it up for long periods of time.

That's a lot of plastic now in the environment somewhere.

Scuba- You do realize that you're talking about an island that has no recycling program at all. I feel terrible every time I put a beer bottle into the garbage. Back home they give you 10 cents for every bottle returned as an incentive.
