Sure - Cannes, Juan-les-Pins, Nice, Villefranche, Beaulieu, Monaco - lots of beautiful boats - time of year is important. Cost obviously is a huge issue. Assuming that you are not interested in a yacht rental, the only compnay I know off hand that you could email about times next year is Riviera Lines which goes out of Cannes and Juan-les-Pins - just east of Nice.

oh and also does anyone know if train is possible from nice to milan? We will be flying to Nice from Paris that seems easy enough but then want to continue on to Milan. When I look at air travel it looks like way arounds and 10 hour flights and such. Or would it be easier to just fly back to paris and then on to milan? Thanks

Yes you can get from Nice to Milan by train... about 5 hours 30 minutes. Most require a change of train at the Italy border but it is very easy. It will be a lovely trip.

If you can ditch your Paris to Nice flights that would be a great idea. The French TGV (High Speed Train) goes directly from central Paris to Nice in less time than it'll take you to get from Central Paris out to the airport, arriving at least an hour before departure and all the other joys of air travel. First Class on the train is about $120 one way and it will be a wonderful experience. The French railway system is nothing like the U.S. system!!!

Here's a link to a train planner http://www.eurail.com/plan-your-trip/eurail-timetable You won't get anything sensible if you put in dates for next May as a new timetable comes out in December. But, the routes you want are major routes and there WILL be lots of trains for you to choose and plenty of availability.

I agree about taking the train from Paris to Nice. We did that and it was a delightful ride through the countryside. I can't remember how long it took but traveling by train was very easy. The trains were clean and very nice inside. We flew from Nice back to Paris which was a major pain in the neck for obvious reasons. A short flight became an all day affair because of required arriving times, waiting, boarding, etc.

Wow - I just reread this post I made and I see where I said Cannes is east of Nice - thanks to all for not pointing out that Cannes is NOT east of nice - it is southwest. Maybe it is getting time to put in my disability claim.
