cessna--It sounds like you are describing Bruno and I suspect that part of the issue was NYE hangover. Not an excuse though.

No, not an excuse, but I do have to say that we were there for lunch this past Tuesday and had wonderful, quick, and friendly service. We dealt with several different people and all of them were friendly and smiling. Food was good too. Not sure why Dreams is getting such mixed reviews or why service seems sporadic there. I hope they get their act together -- it's a pretty place.

I had reached out to Bruno because the reviews surprised me greatly & since I love the place so much I wanted Bruno to know there were some very unhappy people. As you will read below I have copied his response to me in whole (mistakes & all but he is French so give him a break) so everyone can see he is in fact a caring & concerned owner who wants his customers to be happy. Having a business where you have to have employees representing you is never easy but it is way more difficult here & I know that first hand..... As Bruno asked those who had issues should contact him on his Facebook page or email him at: Bruno.dreamsbeachbar@facebook.comI hope that anyone who had a bad experience will take his apology as truly sincere & give them another try one day because when things are working right there, which is most of the time, it is wonderful...... Hi Sharon, Happy new year too , to you and and your familly. I know we got 2 bad reviews on TTOL and i'm very apologize about that : i'm not registed on TTOL and can't answer them. Also they have to go to my FB page and it will be easier for them. If they are on the island yet , they will be our gues for sure for a good lunch wih us. if ou can be my voice , i really appreciate. also my problem was : i have 22 peoples working a dreams and during 3 days we go 2 or 3 saff do no came to work : so the service was a disastre. SO now holidays is finish and it will be better at dreams for sure . tHANK TOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT

He is registered now. I will work with him to so that he can answer any conerns on the forum.
Bruno does NOT like any service related issues, as that is not definately his stlye at all. If there is an issue he WANTS TO KNOW, so that it can be fixed, simple as that.
Will let everybody know as it goes along, as HE WANTS TO KNOW if there are any issues with his establishment and or service. Bruno is fully capable of handliing any situation (in my opinion and then some), so let me help him so he can respond or at least let me tell you what he wants to say. He is not comfortable with english, but does a fantastic job, but he wants to make everythimg right for everybody. This is his nature and he will not accept bad service period. That is something that I know for a fact!
Granted, for many of you -- you say he is a sponsor. Yes he is, and has been for years, but we know him and the family personally. This is not anything that he wants to hear and I can tell you from the years that if there is a problem, he will fix it! He is a remarkable business owner on SXM. Along with some others, but they do not want anything like this, they do not accept it and they will do whatever to fix any issues.

You are absolutely right Eric. We have known Bruno personally for many years and always celebrated our Anniversary dinners with Bruno at Le Cottage. I don't ever remember a complaint from that establishment! If Bruno had been personally made aware of the problems experienced, they would have been resolved immediately. It is always so unfair to complain on a public forum before the business owner has had an opportunity to make things right. Hopefully the unsatisfied customers will come to join the many of us who know Bruno's business ethics and realize that he always strives for the best in any business he operates.

I do not feel it was unfair to make this bad visit known. Here's why. Throughout our visit to Dreams, we had basically been ignored. Would you have me waste MORE of my valuable vacation time seeking attention from a manager who was nowhere to be found that day? Sorry, no. I am not going to waste my time. I posted my review here in the hopes that Bruno WOULD hear of this visit and realize that everything was NOT going smoothly. I do not expect retribution from Bruno. I just hope that he gets things together and keeps the place going. My previous review on TripAdvisor gave him 5 stars. I did not post to Trip Advisor about this visit instead choosing a smaller forum where hopefully he will hear of this. Eric Hill asks "How many complaints have been heard of LeCottage?" I ask, perhaps there have been complaints but they were shut down here as quickly as mine was. Or perhaps other people are smarter than I am and choose NOT to voice their opinion on here unless it is positive. Actually, I just looked on Trip Advisor and in fact, there are several complaints about poor service on Le Cottage. I am going there tonight but we know one of the waiters and expect great service. Social Media is a place for discourse. There is nothing wrong with posting a negative OR a positive. It is simply one person's opinion on a single day. You may choose to disagree with me. And that is your right.

This is the perfect forum to make things like this known. Look at how quickly people who know Bruno reached out to him and made him aware of an issue. I know I would never avoid a place that I wanted to go because someone had a bad experience especially after so many posted good experiences. JMHO

I was merely stating that you should have tried to voice your opinion first to the management before going public with this. Then if you got no satisfaction, you can try other means. I guess you were probably angry and perhaps didn't think of doing anything else at the time. I always try to resolve things privately first, but if that is not your style, so be it. I was not attacking you, but only suggesting that there are better ways to resolve problems. We can agree to disagree, but my suggestion works for many and you may find it helpful in the future.
As for Le Cottage, Bruno is no longer in charge there, so any complaints you may find on Trip Advisor do not pertain to him. Also, I would be careful regarding Trip Advisor as all posts there should be taken with a grain of salt.
Enjoy the rest of your trip and hope you are happy with your other dining experiences.

As far as LeCottage, Bruno has not been actively involved with LeCottage for quite some time, so unless the complaints on TA are old, they would have nothing to do with Bruno anyway.

I have been to Dreams about 20 times, and not every time was perfect but I do still expect a great experience when I go as I know Bruno does as well. My bad days there have still been pretty fantastic. So simply stated by many of us is that you should give it another chance and that based on our ongoing experience with the place it has been consistently good. I probably expect a bit more from Bruno and his staff than most others as we have been there enough that we get to feeling entitled which I think is a natural feeling for regulars. We keep coming back so that says a lot. We also keep talking about Bruno, but David (french spelling ?) looks like he could be Bruno's brother and he also does a fantastic job and is there most days.
This happens with many places all across the island where the regulars would stand up for the place. It is natural to protect what we care about. I have been on both sides, and I guess I have learned to be careful when reviewing a place I do not care for that is popular such as Mark's, Yvettes, Bajatzu, or Toppers.
This does not equal not posting about a bad experience, but I do suggest that you are ready for the response and do not take it personally.
Cheers, Todd
I prefer the Isle seat
