Has anyone recently stayed at the Sapphire? Has there been any improvements or is it still having major problems? Also is the pool bar/restaurant open..?

Thanks

I'm here now, staying at my condo in bldg 2. We have one elevator working. The pool bar/restaurant seems to be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner non-stop. We have hot and cold water, beach towels, the A/C works, the programming on the TV could be better, but that is not why I came here. The pool is clean but a section of the floor is broken, probably leaking. They are torn between feeding it fresh (and expensive) water and draining it for repairs at the height of high season.

Just curious--is the a/c working in all buildings?

LOL.....some things never change at the Sapphire. The pool floor was crumbling four years ago while we were there. They won't fix it at the end of high season, or fix it during low season....they just don't care!!!! That's been their attitude for years.

Thanks Eric..........We have been going there, using a friends time share, for years and have been lucky to avoid all the problems mentioned on ttol. We get a very favorable rate so we keep coming back and are scheduled to come back late April. We will keep our fingers crossed.....We keep reminding ourselves that it is still SXM..!

Just curious - when was the last time you stayed there?

Three years ago....and swore I would NEVER go back to the pit. From the front desk service to the mold in the room, to the lack of air conditioning, to the crumbling pool, to the horrible landscaping....to the cable wire that we didn't have to the busted shower that took FIVE days to fix...to the dirty hot tub......to the lack of pool towels (that we could only exchange once in three days). I think I hit most of our problems.

The only good part of our stay was the following two weeks staying at our home resort..Royal Islander LaPlage. Where we encountered NO problems in the two weeks we were there. (and we have been going to the island for over twenty years).

I guess I am lucky never to have encountered any big problems - just some nuisances every now and then. Always had great cooperation from the front desk, even moved a new dishwasher into my unit. Saw many improvements last year.
