Moday brings another beautiful day in paradise with 16 straight days of perfect weather, maybe 3 quick showers not effecting our day.
Definitely keeping an eye on upcoming storm but looks like it won't be here until tues-wed of next week after our departure

Monday's pool chat we got firsthand memories and pictures of Irma from our friend and children who we haven't seen since the night before Irma.
They were the recipients of all the food and alcohol we purchased for the hurricane hit since we miraculously got on the last flight out the day she hit the island.
Our reunion is bittersweet since he just lost his wife 3 weeks ago but thought it would be a good idea to bring back his 3 daughters to start a new
We have watched his children grow up into 3 beautiful young ladies

They joined us for happy hour at roma
In total the bar area was filled with 19 guests of RI La Plage.
Again the drinks, food and atmosphere were excellent
In addition to reordering the calamari and oriental wings, we tried the large panko shrimp and tuna tatiki.
The tuna won out over the shrimp but wish I had more

Tuesday
An early trip out for a stop at Carl's and sons in Cole Bay specifically for thier coconut tarte
Unfortunately it was not available so we purchased a pineapple tart which was just as good and a pineapple-coconut cake for London our activities director who said it was his favorite

Next was our first stop to Suciere.
We picked up a chocolate almond crossiant, a pistachio-chocolate pastry and another pastry for a "pool friend" who is celebrating his birthday

Before dinner we stopped across the street to the Oasis bar (Rome / Mr Chow) for a couple happy hour drinks.
My $6.00 Bulliet old fashioned would cost about $16.00 or more back home
Drinks are probably prepared

Back across the street we choose Spices of India in the center of Maho on the ground floor.
Need some different cuisine and we wanted to be back for a 8:00 television show

This is our first visit in our 12 years and glad we finally gave them a try.

We were warmly greated into the small air-conditioned dinning room which was about half full with a variety of guests some looking like med students.

A full bar is available
Our knowledge of Indian cuisine is limited but we do know some things we do enjoy.

The cheese nan was loaded and my wife declared the best

All three appetizers were equally as good
Purina paneer tikki was cubed pieces of marinated cottage cheese
Mixed pakova was a variety of light fried vegetables with 2 dipping sauces
Pindi samosa chat was like Indian style nachos with broken pieces of samosa topped with chick peas, spices and such

All three were tasty and the medium spice level was perfect

We shared an entrees of coconut-chicken curry with a side of saffron rice
I throughly enjoy the main course but unfortunately my wife doesn't enjoy the flavor of chicken thighs
She did love the light basamati rice topped with the curry sauce

Bill without the gratuity just approximately $110.00
Including 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, bottled water, specialty nan bread, 3 appetizers and a shared entrees
There was three small to go's for another days lunch

Service was especially friendly from the female whom I believe is one of the owners

Spices of Indian will certainly make our return list next year

Thanks for the report. Definitely sounds like a bittersweet reunion. I know nothing of Indian food. Guess I should try it sometime. Having air conditioning for dining is really nice on occasion in SXM.

We have been to Spices Of India once each of our last 3 trips and greatly enjoyed it each time. It is going to be our go-to on our arrival day on our next trip next month.

I have also been to Spices of India and found them very accommodating as I have a sensitive stomach and can't take any hot spices. I had Mushroom Malai Tikka as an appetizer and I never new mushroom could taste so good. My main course was Chicken Korma, Garlic rice and Garlic Naan. I can't remember the name of the desert but it was a traditional desert - cake like coated balls in a sweet sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious. The owner and his wife were terrific and the decor was lovely. Will definitely go again on every trip.
