We just returned fromWindjammer Landing last Sunday. We flew into Vigie Airport and had no trouble securing a taxi once exiting customs. In ten minutes we were in the lobby of the hotel. One of their ambassadors approached us almost immediately and handled our check in. I inquired about whether we could get a villa with plunge pool (my husband had confirmed our reservations the day before and we knew that we were not getting the pool). She said she would see what she could do. A few minutes later she came back and said we were in luck and there was a villa with pool available, but we would have to pay an additional $700+ dollars for the week. We traded into this resort with points, so we declined to pay the extra amount. There were two pools (one of which was across the road from our villa) plus the beach so having the private pool was not a priority. We decided on the AI option, but skipped it for our first and last day. We were immediately taken to our villa #124 via shuttle. The villa was beautiful, clean and spacious. The bedroom was air conditioned only. It was very hot and humid, so it was a bit uncomfortable being in the living area. That evening we ate at Jammers which is a carribean style casual dining restaurant on the beach. We found the menu to have good variety and the food to be of good quality. Service was a bit slow at times, but not a big deal. Over the course of the week, we ate at Papa Don's (Italian) 2x, Dragonfly (upscale) 2x and Upper Deck (buffets) 2x. Food was great, but prefer the sit downs to the buffets. Breakfast was buffet at Dragonfly every day which contained the usual items. Service was efficient and friendly. Although the AI was well worth the cost, we found we ate more because of it and would probably not do it again. We did pass an IGA on the way to the resort where we could have stopped and picked up supplies/food for the week if we had wanted to eat some meals in. Speaking of eating too much, while we were there we took the water aerobics classes almost every day. They also offered power walks and had a fitness center which we did not use. We went sailing 3 times on the Hobie Cat which was included in the AI fee. If you don't know how to sail, they charge you $15 for a lesson. Mostly we relaxed on the beach or by the pool. We went on the timeshare presentation to see the villas and to take advantage of the free gift (Jammer's Day Sail). This took 1 and 1/2 hours, but no pressure to buy. Frankly, the villas are beautiful and I don't think they have to talk anyone into it. We went on the Jammer's Day Sail on Friday and visited the Botanical Gardens, Sulphur Springs and then a swim off the catamaran. There was entertainment every night in the gazebo at Jammer's. Although it is a family resort, it is very quiet and relaxing. I would not hesitate to return to this resort again. In fact I am so totally spoiled by this experience that it will be difficult to stay anywhere else and keep an open mind. It was difficult to snap back to reality after a week in paradise. You can't go wrong at this resort. If anyone has any specific questions I would be happy to answer them. By the way, YES you will need the mosquito spray. I was eaten alive in the evening. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />
