We arrived Friday, 3/13, on time from EWR. Checked in @Divi, our room for night night, was ready and on Saturday, we moved into our home unit for 2 weeks. Resort looks good and is quite full. The only negative is the 'free' WiFi, spotty at best. I would prefer to pay for it in order to get better connectivity, then have it 'free'. Dinners so far have been at Gizmo's (Divi), Fusion's, Chesterfield's and tonight in Marigot. Weather has great so far, will try posting some pic's later if they ever upload to Photobucket, Mike....

Nice to hear from you. Did you stay in one of the "hotel" rooms the first night? If so, how was it? Will be interested in your opinion of Toucan's and whether it's improved with the new chef.

Ditto to jazzgal's questions.

We once stayed 3 days beyond and Divi put us in a studio near the infinity pool. We may have lucked out so I don't want to think on expecting it i the future.

Linda, They gave us a studio (210) right next to our unit (209) for the night. Haven't been to Toucan's yet, but Friday night when we ate at Gizmo's, the restaurant looked crowded.
Yellowman was on the beach yesterday, not having a good day, car problems, we spoke with him for awhile, wife bought a ankle bracelet from him.
We had dinner at la Belle Epoque last night, was good, but the marina was not very busy.

We agree about the wifi. We went to Scarlet and got ourselves one of their units. The internet was so much better. Since both my husband and I need to be available to work even on vacation, we decided to spend the money. It's worth it!
I'll be curious to hear what you think about Toucan's as well. We found it excellent the last time we were there and I hope they have kept up the good work. Considering that we always said we would never go back, it was a huge improvement!

We stayed in a hotel room the last night of our stay in early March. It was on the first floor of the building just behind the fitness center. The room was fine. We had 2 beds, so there's not much extra room, but it was OK for one night. There was a small refrigerator in the closet. it took a long time to get hot water in the shower, but other than that we didn't have an complaints.

Scarlet is a internet service provider. There office is in Simpson Bay. For I think it was $50 a week, we had a connection in our room. It works over cell signal. And we were on the Great Bay side of Divi and it worked GREAT! We could do larger data file transfers without waiting hours for it to happen. Totally worth the money!

We are travelling to SXM in 10 days, and my DH really wants WIFI. How do I find Scarlet?

It is in Simpson Bay. Driving away from the airport, it is on the left hand side. You can't miss the big sign. It's in a plaza where Dominos is....and the adult toy box.

One caveat with Scarlet, their opening hours are not very convenient for travellers. They are not open on Sunday at all and on Saturday they closed early. Something like noon?

I look forward to hearing more! We are headed to Divi Little Bay next month on our timeshare exchange. We will be in a studio connected to a 1 BR with 2 couples and 1 singleton staying together. Would love you input on how cramped we will be. Also, any info on the resort that would be helpful, as well as driving times to areas (Grand Case, Oyster Pond, Marigot and Simpson Bay). It is our first time in SXM and we are so excited, but am finding planning a bit difficult!! Enjoy!!

With that set up for 5 people, you should have plenty of room. Many of the 1 bedrooms have a second bathroom, so if you get one of those it will be especially good. The only issue is that the pull out sofas are generally terrible. The one we had this year had a mattress that had built in springs! So it was really lumpy and putting it on the floor to eliminate the saggy pull out didn't even help.

You're about 10 minutes from Simpson Bay and 20 from Marigot, unless there's a traffic back up for some odd reason. Via Marigot, it's probably about 30 minutes to Grand Case.

Thank you! I'm hoping that with three pull out sofas in our unit we will be able to find one or two that will work and hopefully doubling up mattresses will help too. Otherwise we will be sharing the king bed between three of us! (not in a pervy way, it's my best friend of 32 years!)

I am anxious to hear your report on Toucans as well. We are planning to eat there our first night just to keep things low key...

You should have no problem except for possibly the comfort of a sleep sofa. The lockout will have at minimum a queen sleeps 2 so one couple there and you in the king with the "single" on a pullout.

Once we stayed in a studio and the next door studio had 6 people, 4 adults, 2 children. I don't know their sleep arrangement but they said only problem was the sleep sofa had to be closed as soon as they woke up so they'd have room to move around.

I'm surprised that there were 6 allowed in a studio. Most all timeshare resorts enforce the max 4 occupancy for studios.

I believe scuba was talking about the post where someone said their neighboring studio had 4 adults and 2 kids, not the original poster.

I was referring and responding to Ron Don's post with six people in one studio. Don't need to reread yours as I knew you have two units.

I agree. Maybe it was because they weren't all adults? Or maybe they didn't TELL Divi how many "bodies". All I know is I thought the studio was small for 2 let alone more. It was about 1/2 the size of the studios at Divi Aruba & Divi Bonaire.

Divi Little Bay offers two types of studio accommodations -
Studio Deluxe - typical studio set-up
Studio Luxury - larger than the deluxe but smaller than a one bedroom unit - is a one bederoom unit in every respect except size - according to Divi this unit will accommodate 4 persons. Literature did not say what the max is.

So? Go on a Monday when they are open regular hours. I'm not sure why this is not convenient.

The point is that if the person is only there for a week, coming in on a Saturday, they most likely would not be able to pick up the unit until Monday. Thus they would only get 5 days use out of paying for 7 days.

You can only pay for 5 days if you want.

Thanks Bobcat. Not sure what we had. It was an end unit near the infinity pool 2nd floor. I think Jazzgal is in that building.

I'm in Bldg. F right next to the pool. I think mine is a "regular" studio, and I can't imagine any more than two people in that size of unit.

I have a Studio Luxury in Bldg 8. Even with its separate bedroom, I wouldn't think of bringing another adult couple with. It works for one grandkid at a time who were 18 and 15 when they came with on different years. The eating area and deck is fine for 4 adults. But the sleeper sofa in the living room could be an issue.
When we came on a different week, we were in a One Bedroom unit and it was basically the same, except it had a very small second bathroom, sink and toilet, only slightly larger than those on Jet Blue. That was in Bldg B4.
The units facing Great Bay were built earlier and may have different floor plans than those in G and D.

That's one of the interesting things about Divi...there is such a variety in the different units and buildings. In general, most of them are good sized, but from building to building, you get very different layouts. We've been in many different 1 bedroom deluxe units, and the second bathroom has always been good sized and included a shower. I know they also have regular 1 bedrooms, with only 1 bathroom. Many of those are in buildings facing Great Bay and are the middle unit on a floor.

Our old unit is 606 in building 7 - a one bedroom with two full baths, patio, full kitchen, bedroom, dining area and living room, facing Great Bay with lots of afternoon shade and a big lawn.

Not in our old unit but this was a long time ago, they did have a laundromat across the road from our building, coin operated.

There's also a laundry near the large pool at the Casitas. Nice to lounge at the pool while you wait.

Yes that's true --many different layouts. We too face Great Bay Bldg #4 and have 2 bathrooms, one with shower one with tub. And the largest bedroom I've ever seen. Once we stayed 2 weeks and we were moved to the unit next to us same bldg and they had 1 bathroom the size of a broom closet, just a toilet. The 2nd was through the bedroom, narrow and the entire length of the room with 2 doors into it at each end. So yes, they are very different.
