I believe the management at Porto Cupecoy shows a movie on the plaza every week, perhaps on Mondays? -- when we were there in December our activities director mentioned it briefly in the course of her 'what's new on the island ' spiel. It's free and outdoors so moskie repellent is a good idea. There used to be some 'grown up' get dressed up and go to dinner type restaurants there - may still be some but things change fast on St. Maarten. We used to enjoy a quiet dinner there while watching the boats bobbing at anchor. It's become popular enough that you should either arrive early or bring your own chairs. To give you a sample of what's being shown, here are the movies from the last 8 weeks: Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 The Theory of Everything Gone Girl The Imitation Game Burlesque Birdman American Sniper My wife and I live in St. Maarten during the winter and in the Boston area the rest of the year.
