I am in the process of creating the itinerary for our June 27 – July 6 charter.

Is it worth going to Anegada for just one night?

Thanks for any input.

Definitely! If you're leaving from North Sound, the sail is only 15 miles so you can easily be in Anegada for most of the day. If you want more time the next day, you can have lunch somewhere on Anegada and still get to Scrub, Marina Cay, or Trellis before sunset.

We did one night in May of last year and it worked out great. As stated above....we left the North Sound fairly early in the morning and was there pronto. We enjoyed Cow Wreck...Loblolly and dinner that night on the beach....took our time getting up and around and was at B Line, Bubbly Pool and Taboo on JVD in time for lunch that day (the Mango chutney/pepper jack cheese burger at Taboo is the BEST!!). Well worth it to me!

We did two nights last year and this year we are only doing one. It's very easy to go for one night and really isn't that much longer of a sail from the NS to Anegada than it is from say Peter or Norman to the NS.

Exactly what we did in December. Folks make too big a deal about getting to Anegada. It's two hours or less from Notth Sound. Leave by 9am and you will be at Cow Wreck before noon.

Agree, agree, agree! We left north sound and it took about 2 1/2 hrs. Spent the day at Loblolly snorkeling then Cow Wreck for a late lunch. The waters on that side of the island are beautiful. Will def be doing it again next trip (which is in the works!!)

Every sailing itinerary is " flexible" to some extent, at least it darn well should be.

If Anegada catches your fancy and takes your breath away... adjust the itinerary.

At some point on every charter, I think "the gravity storm" moves in and Anegada is certainly a place where that could happen to a person or a whole crew, even.

We make a full itinerary for each trip. To me the researching is a big part of the fun. That being said we have never exactly followed it. Things happen like excessive winds, northern swells, or in the case of this year, a great gentleman named Eugene who cruised over to our boat and told us about the Anegada Beach Club, that there is a great beach with snorkeling there, an awesome beach bar, a nice restaurant and best of all he will drive us there for free in his truck. If we decided to stick to our itinerary we would have missed out on the best day we have ever had in Anegada.
Just as he said, he drove us to the Beach Club and it was exactly as advertised. We enjoyed a good lunch near the pool then went to the beach for some snorkeling while the husbands hung out at the beach bar. They had a great time as did we. Mary is the bartender there. She was super in every way. She also took us for a tour of their luxurious tents. We were blown away.
That night we tried out the Wonky Dog thanks to the great advice given here on TTOL. It was a fantastic meal with an equally great host, Desne. We had a spectacular meal and even had deserts because they sounded so amazing. It may sound crazy, but the sweet corn and bacon ice cream was the winner!
Having just gotten back 2 nights ago, I haven't done my trip report yet, but I will say that our one day in Anegada was a highlight of the trip. We have stayed for two nights in the past and that was great as well and if you have time go for it. That way you will see it all. But do not miss out just because you think one day is not enough. It certainly was for us.

I'm another voice to be flexible in your planned itinerary. Your whole trip is an adventure and all sorts of things and people may influence its path. Don't try to see it all in one trip. Leave a few surprises for your next one particularly if you have only a week of boat time.
