We're going to Laughlin, Nevada for just 5 days and I would like to do a side day trip if possible to the Grand Canyon. I was looking for tours but can't find any. Maybe the best thing to do is rent a car, drive ourselves and stay overnight. Any thoughts or anyone know of a tour available. I have looked online but not had any luck finding anything. Thanks.

What sort of tour were you thinking about. It is easy to drive around and see the sites from varouis vantage points. There used to be helicopter tours and used to be some horse back tours down in the caynons, but have not been there in years.

I was looking for an organized tour from Laughlin to the Grand Canyon. It takes about 3 plus hours to drive there from Laughlin and was hoping someone could drive us there and we wouldn't have to. We are only in Laughlin for a short time. Thanks.

ok, seems like there might be a bus tour that you could get nearby. Are you staying at a hotel, if so, you might be able to ask them about options before you arrive.

Hi

It looks as though the outfit called Laughlin Adventure Tours that offered tours to the South Rim and to the “West Canyon”, i.e. the Glass Walk and the Hualapai Falls in the Hualapai Reservation, is out of business. Of course, you can inquire from one of the hotels/casinos in Laughlin.

Our suggestion is to take the Amtrak Southwest Chief from Laughlin to Williams, AZ and then take the Grand Canyon Railway to the South Rim. It might be best to stay overnight at a hotel and go back to Williams and Laughlin the next day. There is everything from tony digs (El Tovar, for example) to less pretentious ones (say Maswik - my daughter and I stayed in one of their cabins before taking the mule ride down the Bright Angel Trail to Phantom Ranch). There is no way the Grand Canyon doesn’t deserve a splurge (in terms of both money and time). And this will require planning on your part. Just sayin’. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Peace

Thanks, Eric and thank you, Dugg. The train sounds like a great idea. Will definitely check it out and I am willing to splurge a little to see the Grand Canyon.

You won't be sorry you splurged.

The Grand Canyon is magnificent, and no photos or paintings can even come close to seeing it in person.
