Lena,
On this most recent trip of ours, the shops started opening around 9:30 and they were pretty much all open by 10:00. We stayed in the Mullet/Maho area and found that if we left between 8 and 8:15 to head into town we encountered no traffic and found easy parking in the midtown pay to park lot. After 9:30 it was anybody's guess as to whether or not you could get into the same parking area. We usually enjoyed a freshly squeezed oj along with our baguette-made French Toast at Barefoot Terrace and by the time we were done with breakfast, Front Street was good to go.
