4 Couples on Glad In it. A 2013 44 Helia by Fountaine Pajot
2 couples from Las Vegas
1 from Texas
1 from South Jersey

Sunday 26th Arrive STT

Uneventful flight to STT. Grab the rental car from Avis and collect the 2 other couples from Vegas, one couples 1st time to the BVI and on a bare boat! This is gonna be fun.

Arrive CYOA, I think we are the 1st charter of the season! Nancy the base manager emails me a few times before we arrive and lets us know our Cat will be waiting for us and all ready for our sleep aboard. She also lets us know what restaurants will be open in the area since its a Sunday arrival and many close early in French Town.

After unloading and stowing some luggage its time to pick up the Texan’s from the airport! 15 minutes later we are back at the boat unloading the luggage again LOL…

We get the provision list from the gals and the 4 guys get in the small Toyota Camry and head
off to Cost U Less! If you have not been there its just like a Cost Co or a Sams Club but St Thomas style (smaller scale).

This place is awesome, prices are very good and selection is plentiful! Our 1st timer Keith finds the liquor and beer Isle and sees the price for Cruzan! Jeff says “its 9 bucks put it in the cart”!
We laugh and put a few more bottles in the cart. We were able to get just about everything we needed for the week long trip in 1 stop. Remember its a bulk store so we did not need 36 rolls of TP so things like that we picked up as we went along.

Our total bill with all food, booze, wine, beer and the other staples to keep us fed for the trip came to just shy of $800!! I think we spent $600 last october with just the booze from a provisioning place in Tortola and another $600 on food! Its is a real cost savings at “Cost U Less”. Not that I am cheap, but this just leaves more money for eating out and drinks!

Now to fit it all in the Camry with 4 guys to boot! Back to the boat and unload. Avis has a car rental place next to the Petite Pump Room. This is way cool. After your done with the car you can drop it off and its a 4 min walk back to CYOA! The car rental total was less than $50. Saved us a lot of Taxi trips and save us some money. I rushed to get back to the rental place, they closed at 6pm. Got there at 5:50pm.. Island Time, door was shut and the were back at 8am. No worries all good.

Dinner at Rum Shanty just around the corner from CYOA. Off to bed for early rise.

Monday morning around 8am Capt Jay stops by and says hello! We talked about the Cat Fight and last weeks happenings. Our check out is at 9am with Kyle. We check off the inventory list, Kyle arrives early and we start the chart brief and then on to the boat systems. Had an issue with an AC water pump. 20 mins later its been replaced and we are on our check out sail in the harbor. Raise the main, unfurl the gib, a few tacks and Kyle’s ride back to the base arrives and we are on our way to West End!

I have to add, we have chartered with many companies over the past 7 years in the BVI’s and never had any bad experiences or issues that would not make me go back to prior companies. However, this is the second time we have chartered with CYOA and wont be the last. If I were to purchase a boat and put it in charter CYOA would probably be my 1st choice. As an owner knowing that they take the time to check whats on board and raise the sails prior to your charter leaves the dock and then check everything again on your return, including raising the sails to check for tears and operational issues along with diving the boat, as an owner that would give me great confidence I am not getting billed for something that I should not be getting a bill for.

Ok back to Monday
We arrive WE and I gather the passports and check in forms and head to the office. Takes about 20 minutes and I am back on Glad In It ready to head to Pussers for a PK and let the girls shop a little prior to heading to Norman.

Off the ball and a quick sail to Norman where we ball up in front of Pirates and wait for Dirk and Sandy on Catatonic to join us for the week. It’s their anniversary week and we are Glad In It to celebrate it with them in Da ilons.

Happy hour Appetizers and drinks at Pirates. Their Hot Wings are one of my favorites. Back to the boat and we had Chicken and Beef Tacos for dinner on board and Dirk’s fresh squeezed Margaritas!

Ok Willy T time! When we arrived it was not busy… went up top to have a drink or 2. Then back downstairs and the place was jam’n. After a Shot Ski and some dancing it was time to head back to the boat for the night. No tattoos, I was disappointed.

Tuesday
Coffees on (2 pots, 1 electric and 1 perk). Early departure, headed over to the caves! Everyone pitched in for breakfast, bacon, eggs, toast and Mimosas. Arrived the caves and snorkeled for a bit. Then headed over to the Indians for some more snorkeling. The winds were down and the seas were calm. Put up the quad copter for some aerial shots of the Indians. Dirk hooked up his Kite Board Kite and was practicing the art of flying prior to getting on the board.

Off to Scrub for the evening. TTOL rate and bar credit! Place was empty, ran into a few folks from Jersey that were staying land based! What a hoot they were. Felt like I was in the pool with the Sopranos and the Good Guys! We had fun. Cheese and crackers for apps and Chicken Scampi was for dinner. Red and White wine and fresh baked garlic bread. Ran into a honeymoon couple on a mono, think they were from Croatia. They joined us for some after dinner drinks and conversation. I even think some of us gave the newlyweds some marriage advice LOL.. Ok, its time for some water slide action! (1am).
