So very excited to begin our trip.  This is a girls trip, myself and 2 friends.  My husband packed  the car with our 9 pieces of luggage, and 3 carry ons no easy feat, getting it all into the trunk.  Will be very interesting to see how we get it into a Nissan versa in st Martin.and we all claimed to have packed light.  Before the trip I had ordered 3 pool floats that fit right into the luggage, so mine wAs already in my suitcase and I had the other 2 on the side for my friends to slip into theirs.  So halfway to the airport I realized I left the floats on top of my daughters car in the driveway at home.  My husband texted me the sad pic.  Oh well, guess I'll be the only one floating!   Well our 10:30 flight is now delayed 45 minutes already, due to a baggage issue.  Approximately 50 pieces of luggage are not on the plane, and we won't be taking off until they are.  Computer issues they are saying.  This just can't be good.  And I warned the guy taking the bAgs that I was going to be very upset if the bags did not arrive when I did.  Keeping my fingers crossed,  at least we are in business class - free dinks...key the vacation begin!!!
UPDATE:  11:45 the plane was forced to take off without many of the bags.!!!  We are praying ours made it on.     If not, they won't arrive until TOMORROW!! To be continued......

Nine bags plus carry-ons for three people? How long are you staying?

I was wondering the same thing........I'm wondering if I can still manage to do two weeks in a 'legal' sized carry-on each this December!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Pat, I'm impressed, although we do stay for three weeks, so I've not even tried to do carry-on only. I still bring things home unworn, but I like to have options.

Well don't be too impressed as it was only a ten day trip and they were legal but still large carry-on suitcases..... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

In April we were there for the better part of three weeks and we each had a large (25"?) shipped suitcase along with our small carry-ons. I laughed when we were packing to go home because one bag was filled to the brim with clothes we hadn't worn over the course of the entire trip and the other had the dirty clothes with room left over. jester: <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Hubby & I have done 3 weeks with 1 carry-on each. One of us does laundry 1/2 way thru. Most of the time it's bathing suit (or not).

Years ago when the Grand Case restaurants had just 2 seatings and hubby wore sports coat to dinner we packed more.

Lol just 3 checked bags - one each, and one carryon tote each and a pocketbook! Definitely not 9 pieces of luggage.

We went to Europe for a month with 2 back packs, a computer carry on and travel purse. Thanks to Rick Steves and his packing bags and suggestions.

I always start off with good intentions of just taking a carry on but it's those last minute "just in case" items that get thrown in at the last minute that screw me up.. Apparently now I see I can survive on very, very little <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

I'm sure I could "survive" on what I fit in a carry-on, but this is my vacation. Why should I? I much prefer to have options. I bring at least 8-10 swimsuits, most with a matching cover-up, several dresses, shorts, tops, and accessories. It all fits in my one checked bag, and is really no trouble at all. Life's too short to deny oneself the satisfaction of feeling good about myself.

You are right Georgia! I would love to be able to just deal with a carry-on but then wouldn't have the things that I like to bring with me- snorkel equip., life jacket, float, some favorite foods, and a CHOICE of clothing!! We each check a bag and carry a backpack. Wouldn't change a thing!!

When we travel Bob packs a rolling ice chest. 2 pairs of shorts.. 2 ts..2 bathing suits.. underwear and a small toiletries.. Unpack and he has his ice chest....

We don't frequent the high end restaurants... wash a few times during the 2 weeks.... but he is in his bathing suit 90% of the time.

Floats??? nine cases??? I don't think we could do carry on for 10 days but you could use "pack light" for those other things you dragged down there. Have fun!!!http://www.sxm-services.com/packlight/

Sand Gravity, got to love it!
