Jost to Anegada 2007
Thursday 4/26- Left the Cape at noon and met our daughter Kelsey and boyfriend Mike for lunch at the Florentine Café on Hanover Street in the North End. Stayed at the Holiday Inn next to Logan for their Park & Fly.

Friday 4/27- USAir 1 ½ hours late leaving and by the time we get to Philadelphia our connecting flight has left (by 5 minutes). Not their problem (weather), so we’re holed up at the Marriot at the airport in shorts and flipflops only on a stormy, freezing day. This means missing Friday nite at Quito’s and the Ole Works Inn #/?><!!!!.

Saturday 4/28- USAir late leaving Philly again and we just make the ferry at 1:15PM to the West End. But, we missed the ferry to Jost by 5 minutes. This becomes a great opportunity to have lunch at the Jolly Roger, and the nice young man from Bobby’s with our groceries agrees to come back to meet us for the 4pm ferry. Always a happy ferry ride to Jost ends with Selena waiting for us at the dock with one of her new cars. We drove over to Foxy’s and made reservations for the BBQ.
Sunset Villa West at White Bay Villas is a nice studio sized villa with an absolutely breathtaking view, especially the first time seeing it, it was great to be back!!!!! After a swim and libations at Ivan’s we headed off to Foxy’s BBQ. Mahi mahi and the ribs were fantastic as well as Rapheal’s “friggin in the riggin’s”. Blue’s guitarist Kl Nicholas also excellent.

Sunday 4/29- Breakfast on the patio and then walked over to the Soggy for a morning p.k. and the place was already packed. Walked home for lunch and then came back for Reuben’s afternoon show. Met Wes & Beth and Bill & Mary Ann from TTOL and had a great time. Went for a ride over to Taboo to check the Bubbly Pool but alas little water and things were pretty quiet. Stopped at Cosair’s for pizza and salad for supper.

Monday 4/30 Pre-dawn mosquito attack is vicious. The couple from Germany next door are screaming their frustrations. We all regroup, fire up all the smoke repellants we can and wait out the assault. Luckily this is the only bad couple of hours the whole time down there regarding mosquitos!!!!!!!! After breakfast on the patio we snorkeled at the bottom of the hill in front of the Pink House. Excellent snorkeling for beginners like us with lots of fish and some coral right off shore.
Drove over to Taboo and Bubbly Pool quiet again. Had a great lunch with a couple of Blue Taboo’s to go and went back to Ivan’s. On the way back we got held up for almost an hour on the road while the crewman were laying the new water main to Diamond Cay.
I got the thrill of a lifetime when Ivan let me help him plant a new coconut tree in front of the Gazebo, someday the hammock may swing from it. Showered and went over to Foxy’s for an excellent supper and a couple “friggin in the riggin’s”.

Tuesday 5/1- Wake up to see Lucky has slept the night in the chaise lounge on the patio and seems very much at home. Breakfast on the patio and we say goodbye to Heinz and Donna , our neighbors who are leaving for a week at Long Bay. Drove over to Ivan’s and snorkeled for awhile. We walked over to the Soggy and had p.k’s with Wes and company. A huge squall blew in and was exciting for awhile. We stayed for lunch and then decided to walk back to Ivan’s in a steady downpour. Naturally, by the time we drove home the rain stopped. Even on a gray day everything is still so beautiful, warm, and happy. Easy afternoon nap after p.k.’s. Decided on Sydney’s for supper but had a misunderstanding about what their barbeque was. Theirs is just another item on the menu and not a big buffet like Foxy’s or Ivan’s. But always a fun time is to be had at Sydney’s. Full moon is fantastic and everything is really lit up at night. A little quieter on Jost than at Bomba’s on the full moon.

Wednesday 5/2 - Hiked up at dawn to top of White Bay on mountain road. Very steep road but well worth it up on top. Great views of the backside and down on White Bay. Road itself is pretty with the goats keeping the grass short. Went back to get Beth and we drove the mountain road over to Little Harbor. Very beautiful and very exciting. Afterwards we snorkeled for awhile and then had a nice long lunch at Jewels. Stopped at Ivan’s for a few games of dominoes and Caribs. Decided on Abe’s for Lobster and were not disappointed. Only one other couple there and we dined on the wharf in the moonlight. Moonlight swim at Ivan’s.

Thursday 5/3- Ivan’s BBQ day!! We have entire two villa’s to ourselves as everyone around us has left. Sunset Villa East a much larger living area and worth the upgrade for the extra space, especially in the kitchen. The gazebo on the cliff in front of the villa is right on the edge of the cliff and a perfect spot to sit. Played dominoes and swam and party all day and night at Ivan’s. Reuben with another marathon performance.

Friday 5/4- Travel day and we’re cleaned up, packed and on the 9am ferry to West End.
Reuben on his way over to for his Friday night Bannakeet gig. Taxi to Road Town was $8. each. After a little shopping and cash resupply at the ATM we settled in at Capriccio Di Mare for a nice leisurely lunch. Stopped at Pussar’s for some nice air conditioned beers till the 3:30PM Anegada ferry.
What a site the Island Rocket is! But it worked just fine today and the ride over was beautiful. Seeing Anegada getting closer and closer the first time was really exciting. Dean was at the dock to meet us with a car and we drove over to Neptune’s to check in.
Randy warmly greeted us and it felt like home immediately. We had remembered to call earlier in the day to make dinner reservations. We drove over to Cow Wreck for a dip before supper and seeing it for the first time even at sunset was stunning. Candlelight dinner on Neptune’s patio is very romantic and comfortable. The rooms at Neptune’s are very comfortable, well air conditioned, and have a tiny fridge. All your charges at the bar and the restaurant go on a tab which you settle when you leave.

Saturday 5/5- Up early for 8am breakfast, borrowed a cooler, stopped at Lil Bit Taz for ice and supplies, and headed off to Lobolly. Lobolly absolutely beautiful. Best snorkeling we’ve ever done to the left side of beach. At high tide the “canyons” in the coral reefs are so much fun with tarpon and giant parrot fish our big thrills. No one there for the first couple of hours and only a little busier at lunchtime. Had one Big Bamboo Teaser-- I think two would have made sleepy time, very important to pace yourself.
Explored our way over to Cow Wreck on the smallest roads we could find. Flock of 80 Flamingo's in salt pond a big highlight of trip over. Cow Wreck is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. The Beach Bar is perfect. A couple of games of pool and a little CNN on the tele was great to get my pulse rate back up a little, at least for a few moments. And yes, they do make the most unique and delicious conch fritters n the universe. Beth spent the afternoon playing with the girls. Belle and crew are so much fun to hang with.
Lobster and swordfish at Neptune’s for perfect evening.

Sunday 5/6- Dawn walk across street from Neptune’s to salt pond with absolutely stunning views of the clouds and reflections in the still water. Walked up the beach to Pomato Point for a swim before another happy Neptune’s breakfast.
Ed & Karen from Colorado and Jeremy & Kathy from Chicago (fellow TTOL’s) are all very nice and interesting to talk to.
Off to Flash of Beauty for snorkeling. Current very strong but well worth the effort. Conch are everywhere and beach is very unique. I think the best beach for sand, coral pieces, shells, and few other people. Drove over to Lobolly and Big Bamboo is packed with a charter group. We were starved and luckily sat right down and had great crab salads. We snorkeled for a while after but it was kind of crowded so we headed off to Cow Wreck. Very quiet as Alex and all the boys were out fishing as usual. They came back with a whole boat load of conch from outside the reef. Hung with Jeremy & Kathy for awhile and decided to try Potter’s together for supper. Back at Neptune’s before supper, Kia hand lined a 2’ shark up onto the dock, slapped it silly, cut off it’s fin and rode home on her bike with it, not your average 10 year old.

Monday 5/7- Coffee at Neptune’s and on the 8:30 ferry to Road Town. Just made the 9:45 to St Thomas (we thought ferry was at 10:05, oops!) Walked around Charlotte for awhile shopping, had a nice lunch at the Green Room, had a last cold beer at the Petite Pump before heading to the airport. Purchased assorted rums, etc at Duty free before checking in and were only an hour or so late leaving on USAir. Back in Boston after 1am (our box of rum has never arrived) and over to the Holiday Inn after 2am.

Great trip, everybody happy. USAir bad experience all around. Have to remember to fly direct non-stop with an airline who cares next time. We will definitely spend more of our vacation on Anegada next time. It’s not for everyone, but it’s everything for us. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />
