Got to the ferry terminal in CA yesterday, checked our 3 bags for $3 each and proceeded down to the waiting area and stopped at "security". Security guard saw I was rolling the small carryon bag and I mean small. Told me that if it's "carryon" then I have to carry it! CAN'T roll it. Absolutely amazing.

It is universal. TSA will go to the effort to unroll an almost empty tube of toothpaste to show you it was once more than 3oz. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

The one I love is the armed pilot having his nail clippers taken away in the early days of the program. I had a tiny pair of scissors taken away and I mentioned that in 2 minutes I would be in the cockpit with a big crash ax at my disposal. He still took my scissors.

I think you should have said, no worries, that when the time comes, you'll carry it on, but until then you'll keep rolling it..

Rick--I have to say that your experience should be reported to the BVI Tourist Board--not that they necessarily would give a ratsa$$, I suppose.
