Had a great snorkel today at Smuggler's! Saw an octopus, various fish, coral and two sharks! A baby shark was patrolling the shoreline and we found an adult farther out in the water underneath rocks! Exciting but scary! On a side note Michael stepped on a sea urchin close to shore in the sand and we are in the process of treating that with copious amounts of drink!

Have tried your cell with no luck. Call us at 770-656-9316 if you're coming to VG.

I'm not having any luck with electronics this week Rick! I can't even read your email thru TTOL! We still have plans to come over so I'll call and let you know when.

For the sea urchin, one of our daytrip group stepped on one last year. The locals jumped into action and got a candle. Dripped hot candle wax on the spines. When it cooled they pulled it off along with the spines. It worked and the "patient" walked away no worse for the wear

Thanks for the advice Norma but there are no spines sticking out. He just has these black dots all over the bottom of his foot. I tried shaving them off as WebMD suggested but they are under his skin. Next step is to soak his foot in vinegar as that is supposed to kill the venom. It was also suggested that epsom salts would work but I can't find any close by.

We saw a shark on eustatia reef in April. About four feet long. He wasn't interested in us, he went and hid in the coral. But my heart was pounding!!

I saw a shark at Cooper Island when we were there a few weeks ago. I have to admit I was a little nervous but he also just laid low in the rocks for a while, then he did come out and take a look at me but didn't seem interested. The one I saw was a nurse shark (supposed to be non-aggressive). I can't tell from the picture does anyone know what type the shark is?

Love shark week! As long as they are not swimming along side me at least! I saw my first one up close and personal on Jost in 2013. We were sitting on the dock drying off after a snorkel, you know with your legs over the edge splashing and relaxing after a good swim, just taking in the view, when one swam under our feet. Amazing animals. He circles around in the bay around us for 5 or so minutes and then must have decided, nothing to see here. I was in total awe, the shark, he was meh.

So I'm sure you guys have seen the video on Facebook this week of the woman telling everyone to just stay out of the water. "That's the shark's home not yours. Chickens come in my house they get ATE!" Oh lord, it's hilarious.

yes, the shark in the picture is a nurse shark. They are non aggressive and actually can be petted.
